Canon EOS 60D Review

At first blush, you'd think the EOS 60D would be more capable than the older EOS 50D. That's only partially true. It's got more pixels and a more sophisticated metering engine, but it lacks the metal body and has a lower maximum continuous shooting...

Excellent balance; great choice of lenses; superb video capabilities

Only nine focus points; obtuse UI

Interestingly, high-ISO shooting (ISO 3200 and 6400) seems to generate images slightly softer than the T3i. As with the T3i, if you push to ISO 12800, you start to see a lot of chromatic noise. Still, high ISO performance is pretty good overall.

Canon tends to be conservative with its DSLR upgrades, but it has made a big departure from the norm with the release of the EOS 60D. The 60D (Canon tends to be conservative with its DSLR upgrades, but it has made a big departure from the norm with the...

Vari Angle LCD ; Wireless flash control built in ; Superb video, external mic jack, and audio control ; In-camera raw processing and image resizing ; Extensive software bundle included ; Good battery performance ; Excellent image quality, even at high...

Poor Auto White balance under tungsten lighting ; Slow focusing in Live View ; Clumsy access to Movie mode

The EOS 60D is an excellent upgrade for EOS Rebel owners who want more control, an articulated LCD, wireless flash, a more substantial body, and high-quality video capture.

Canon EOS 60D (with 18-200mm lens)

As it seems with every other generation of Canon dSLRs, the EOS 50D was a solid, if somewhat uninspired, follow-up to the extremely well-received 40D. Now it's the 60D's turn to be the interesting model. It combines some of the best elements of the T2i...

Very fast; articulated display; excellent video quality and options

Some annoying interface conventions

The Canon EOS 60D is in many ways a great camera: fast, feature-packed, and with excellent photo and video quality. Some annoying aspects of its control layout dim its shine a little, however, so try before you buy.

What a difference two years makes in DSLR Land. The replacement for 2008's 50D, the new Canon EOS 60D not only has more resolution, higher ISO capability and the ability to take Full HD videos, it even has a swivel LCD screen. Given all these...

Excellent color accuracy ; You can actually shoot at 12,800 ISO ; Vari-angle LCD a real plus ; Superior battery life

Still not a fan of DSLR HD video; focusing is a hassle ; Warm” indoor images with Auto White Balance ; Puzzling Multi-control dial

The successor to the EOS 50D brings higher resolution, a handy swiveling LCD, and surprising performance even at high ISO speeds.

Canon EOS 60D First Impressions Review

We stopped by the 2010 Canon Expo for a chance to get some hands-on action with the latest in Canon cameras. Our first stop? The just-announced Canon EOS 60D (MSRP $1099.00). There were a surprising number of improvements over 2008's 50D—none more...

The Canon EOS 60D (MSRP $1099) represents a significant improvement over 2008's 50D. Foremost among these changes is the addition of 1080/30p video recording, which is supplemented by an articulated LCD panel, HDMI output, and microphone input.

Sharp, beautiful images. Fast shooting. Excellent for low-light performance without a flash. Lots of video recording options. Manual operation during video recording. Articulating LCD

No continuous autofocus while recording video. Lens makes audible noise when re-focusing during video recording

The bottom line is that the Canon EOS 60D turns in very good performance, has great image quality and comes in a very affordable package. It is a camera that many of us will be happy to own.

Canon 60D

The Canon 60D is prosumer DSLR with video capture prowess. It sports an 18MP APS-C format sensor and a swivel LCD. As the successor to the Canon 50D, it's somewhat of a change in the natural progression of the xxD line of cameras. A smaller form-factor...

The 60D fits well in the gap between the Rebel series and the 7D. It offers enough features to entice anyone looking at buying a Rebel T3i or 7D to step up or down, respectively. I highly recommend the Canon 60D as a prosumer/enthusiast camera – even...
