Canon EOS 6D

Less than a week after arch-rival Nikon grabbed headlines with the D600, Canon responded with an announcement of its own price-conscious full frame DSLR, the EOS 6D. And just like that, a new market segment was born: the mid-range full frame DSLR. It...

Excellent detail in raw file output across ISO range ; Class-leading low light focus sensitivity (from central AF point) ; Very effective JPEG noise reduction at highest ISO sensitivities ; Impressively quiet 'silent' shutter drive mode ; Quick Control...

JPEG engine struggles with low-contrast fine detail at low ISO sensitivities ; Low density 11 point autofocus array with only one cross-type AF point ; Single card slot (SD) ; Slow burst rate compared to its full frame peers ; Cannot configure common...

The EOS 6D doesn't offer the depth of features that its best competitors can, but it combines very good image quality, impressive high ISO performance and class-leading low light autofocus ability (with the central AF point) as well as impressive...

Canon EOS 6D (with 24-105mm lens)

In some respects, it's hard to tell who Canon's targeting with the EOS 6D, its "budget" full-frame camera. It's got some fairly consumer-y features and specifications. GPS? Check. Built-in Wi-Fi? Check. Single SD card slot? Check. Viewfinder with less...

The Canon EOS 6D delivers the photo and video quality you expect from a full-frame sensor, in a well-designed and relatively lightweight body.

While the camera has nice extra features, like Wi-Fi and GPS support, it's missing some basics for the price like on-camera flash, multiple card slots, and a 100 percent-coverage viewfinder.

The photo quality you get from the EOS 6D makes it well worth the upgrade over a consumer APS-C model, but between this and comparable or higher-end models it's a less obvious choice.

Canon EOS 6D

Prior to the announcement of the Canon EOS 6D ($2,099 direct, body only) and the Nikon D600, shooters who wanted a full-frame camera—one with an image sensor the same size as a 35mm film frame—were faced with a small number of choices at $3,000 and up....

Compact. Inexpensive for its class. Full-frame sensor. 4.5fps shooting. Superb image quality at high ISOs. Interchangeable focus screens. Integrated GPS and Wi-Fi. 1080p30 video capture. Battery grip available. Supported USB tethered and Wi-Fi remote...

Not the fastest camera on the block. Viewfinder only offers 97 percent coverage. Not compatible with EF-S lenses. GPS saps battery life. No flash. Slow focus during video recording. No PC Sync socket

The Canon EOS 6D is a top-notch full-frame camera in a relatively compact body. With a relatively affordable price, enthusiast-friendly features, and spectacular image quality, it's an easy Editors' Choice.

Camera Review: Canon EOS 6D

Canon's lower priced, full-frame DSLR doesn't skimp on image quality.

Superb overall image quality; excellent performance at high ISOs in low light; built-in Wi-Fi is an improvement over previous models; good overall speed for shooting candids, photographing models in a runway setting and capturing sports; nice,...

Many of the new full-frame cameras that were announced in 2012 have been making their way into the hands of photographers in 2013. It will be interesting to see how the excellent, relatively slimmed down Canon EOS 6D fits into the overall market. On...

Canon EOS 6D

Canon's EOS 6D is the company's first 'affordable' full frame DSLR. It's positioned above the EOS 60D (and in some respects the EOS 7D), providing a stepping stone into full-frame photography for owners of Canon's mid-range and semi-pro APS-C models....

Tough, moisture and dust resistant body ; Built-in Wi-Fi and GPS ; Great image quality with low noise levels ; AF effective in very low light ; 4.5fps continuous shooting limited by memory for JPEGs

Single SD card slot ; Lacks built-in flash ; 97 percent viewfinder coverage ; Relatively few AF points and only one cross-type ; Lacks on-demand viewfnder overlays

The Canon EOS 6D is an extremely capable and well-designed full-frame digital SLR that provides a clear upgrade choice for anyone looking to graduate from an APS-C model to a full-frame DSLR. It combines excellent image quality with superb high ISO...

Canon EOS 6D

Canon's most affordable full-frame is one of the high-end's best deals.

Generally impressive image quality; An affordable full-frame

Disappointing sharpness scores with the kit lens; Dated autofocus

Everything the D600 is for Nikon users, the EOS 6D is for Canon lovers: a relatively affordable full-frame option, aimed at photographers looking to get their start in high-end portraiture or event shooting. Plus the—shall we say—"price insensitive"...

"What Makes 6D Perfect For Me?"

I have to say that this 6D is truly amazing!

* Clean sensor

* Lacking number of autofocus points compared to other bodies in it's capability range

Consumer review by:

"The only camera you should ever need."

- Full frame! Way better image quality compared to the same pixel count in APS-C-sized sensors

First and foremost: Amazing image quality.

Still out of the price range of many enthusiasts
