Overall a Great camera for the money and produces great images. People are it's best area although it will do a very good job outdoors and in low light areas. Like all other cameras used with flash, get a good flash and don't depend on the one on the...
Great pictures of people and pets. Also makes for great outdoors photos. Uses AA batteries and 123 types. I've gotten an attachment to replace the 123 batteries with AAs and it works great. Eliminates looking for 123s which are VERY expensive. Handle
Not light but well built. Will eat batteries if left on when not in use. Uses CF cards of 1GB or smaller which limits the images per card

A camera that was ahead of it's time and when picture quality counts is still hard to argue with. I bet there are many on the used marked, that are able to be picked up for a song, if you already have Nikon lens's and would like to add a workhorse to...
the s2 pro has stood the test of time and although is showing it's age, it still performs well I have a D80/D70 and E-500 along with many non removable lens models that are of the superzoom variety ; It is notable that all features are so easy to use
Battery and weight is high, but with today's batt's it still can run a long time on a set of good eneloops

When I decided to "go digital", I sold my various Nikon bodies (my beloved FE2, the F4 and my Nikkormat) and bought the S2Pro new which at that time was around $1000. I have been well pleased with the camera's performance. Although some people complain...
So far so good. But I don't submit my cameras to abuse. I do use them and a good deal, but its not as if I'm shooting two or three hundred exposures a day

The sensor, which has 6.17 million effective pixels and is capable of producing 12.1 million (4, 256 x 2, 848) recorded pixels for...

The FinePix S2 Pro is a heavyweight in every sense of the word. At 1 pound, 15 ounces for the body alone (with batteries), it is one of the heaviest cameras we've reviewed. It's also one of the biggest: The body is a bulky 5.5 inches wide by 2.75...
We also saw some evidence of moiré interference, where fine details (such as the etching on a paper bill used in our tests) produced a colored fringing pattern. This result is probably at least partly due to the interpolation that the camera performs...
Though our test images taken at the highest resolutions did appear to have plenty of detail, the S2 didn't earn extraordinarily high scores: The Canon Digital Rebel XT, Canon EOS 20D, and Olympus EVolt E-300 all scored higher than the S2 for image...

Excellent image quality ; maximum control over settings ; FireWire interface ; bright LCD
Requires two sets of batteries ; bulkier than the competition ; small viewfinder
While the S2 Pro is a great pro camera, minor flaws keep it slightly behind the competition.

The Fujifilm FinePix S2 Pro was announced on January 30th 2002, almost three weeks before Nikon announced the D100 and Canon announced the EOS-D60. The S2 Pro replaces Fujifilm's first price breaking digital SLR the S1 Pro. Just like the S1 Pro the S2...

Still some slight moiré visible on diagonal detail, more so with 12 mp images ; 1/2 EV steps for exposure selection / compensation ; Adobe RGB color space not selectable for in-camera JPEG (only for RAW) ; Two different types of battery required,...
Once more Fujifilm's D-SLR turns out to be the dark horse of the D-SLR race. The S2 Pro goes a long way to satisfying Fujifilm's claims about SuperCCD, although it's my opinion that the SuperCCD design works far better in a D-SLR (large sensor size)...

Fuji has long been a player in the digicam arena, creating a broad line of popular consumer-level models over the last couple of years. From the email I receive, it's apparent that they've been very successful in doing so, as I consistently note a...
Overall, the S2 turned in a superb performance, really surprising me with how well it did against the very stiff competition from Nikon's D100 and Canon's D60. The first thing I observed in studying its photos was that it sports the same beautiful...
Fuji has also been a player in the digital SLR market for quite a while now, dating back to their first D-SLR, the E2S several years ago. More recently, they introduced the S1 Pro almost two years ago, a unit based on Nikon's N60 consumer SLR. Using...

There's a lot to like about the Fuji S2 Pro. Image quality is at the top of the list. It takes a back seat to no other DSLR in its price range. I also liked the fact that the camera takes AA batteries, and appears to get a lot of life from them. The...
The relatively light weight of the camera is also a plus. Firewire connectivity in a camera in this price range is also not seen anywhere else. Fuji is to be commeded for this.

Fuji Film (See all Fuji Film Digital SLR Cameras)
The FinePix S2 Pro digital SLR builds upon its predecessor's reputation for outstanding picture color and detail while giving professional photographers even greater control over the taking, editing, storing and transferring of high-resolution images, both in the studio and on location. The FinePix S2 Pro boasts the 3rd Generation of Fujifilm's Super CCD sensor. The sensor, which has 6.17 million effective pixels and is capable of producing 12.1 million (4, 256 x 2, 848) recorded pixels for pictures with stunning color and detail that are designed to please even the most demanding professional photographer. The FinePix S2 Pro also features a CCD Raw mode, which delivers the image before it has been processed by the camera's internal algorithmic settings, thereby liberating professional photographers to experiment with their photographs as they see fit.Already renowned for its class-leading color reproduction, high sensitivity and low noise, the latest incarnation of Fujifilm's unique technology offers a wider range of sensitivity (from 100-1600 ISO) and, through Fujifilm's new Noise Reduction Technology, even lower levels of noise. From light location work to high-speed sports and action photography the ability to shoot at up to 1600 ISO without the worry of noise causing significant degradation to the image has profound benefits for all professionals. The FinePix S2 Pro features a host of cutting edge camera functions and has a Nikon F mount that is fully compatible with all Nikkor AF-D lenses, including the latest AF-S type professional optics. For total flexibility, the S2 Pro has a variety of high-end photographic controls, including four shooting modes (single frame, continuous, preview and multiple exposure), four exposure modes (multi-programmed AE, shutter-priority AE, aperture-priority AE and manual exposure control. In addition, there are nine modes for white balance. The FinePix S2 Pro can record images at four resolutions (4, 256 x 2, 848, 3, 024 x 2, 016, 2, 304 x 1, 536 and 1, 440 x 960 pixels) and in three file formats (TIFF-RGB, CCD-Raw and JPEG). Captured images can be viewed on the camera's 1.8 inch low temperature polysilicon TFT monitor with 100% frame coverage.A special voice annotation feature allows the attachment of 30-second voice notes to each photo, which enables the busy photographer to track and describe a large portfolio of images.Despite the high specification and resolution the FinePix S2 Pro still offers superb value for money. High end features such as FireWire (IEEE1394) connectivity, IBM Microdrive compatibility, CCD-Raw and TIFF modes mean the FinePix S2 Pro offers similar levels of specification to competitive models costing thousands of pounds more. Add to this the stunning high resolution, low noise and class-leading color reproduction produced by the Super CCD sensor and results in a very compelling professional camera.
