Old But Good

I've had this camera since it was released. Also shoot a IIIF and an M9 - so I'm a Leica fan. Using this camera is a pleasure - the controls are perfectly placed and intuitive. It may be made by Panasonic, but it's a Leica experience. The image quality up to ISO400 is excellent. The camera shoots RAW. And just how many MP do people really need? 7.5 is plenty. While the kit lens is superb, it's heavy. My recommendation is to buy a Leica R to 4/3 adapter (12.00 on Ebay) and invest in Leica R glass. This is a fun older camera that's built like a tank and can be had for the price of a P&S (minus the lens).

Leica Digilux 3 Digital Camera User Review

You may be thinking that you've seen this camera before.

Overall I am very impressed with this camera. The image quality is excellent and the camera works well. As far as lenses go this is by far the best in class (kit lenses) I also liked the ergonomics/styling of the camera for the most part. I like the...

Leica Digilux 3

Leica Camera is introducing the new Leica Digilux 3 at Photokina in Cologne (September 26th to October 1st, 2006). The Leica Digilux 3 is the first purely digital Leica mirror reflex system camera with exchangeable lenses, thereby opening up a third...

Leica Digilux 3

I have owned this camera for over three years and I still love it and use it fairly regularly. It is built like a tank. The kit lens is tack sharp and it's OIS works great.

I wish it was higher res than 7.5MP. Don't bother with ISO 1600, the noise is brutal

This is a great camera! I love it. It's true, once you get it set up, it's the creative photographer's dream machine.

I have one problem. The problem isn't with the camera, but the posts of anti-Leica ; snobs so prevalent in these forums. If you don't like Leica, go and use your DSLR, or ; other P&S and enjoy it. Don't come here and reduce the rating of the camera...

A remarkable tool for creative work

This is quite simply the finest DSLR that I have ever used. I learned on a Nikon F1 and a Canon A1, but I became a photographer when a friend gave me his old Leica M6 Rangefinder. This camera embodies a lot of the intuitive nature of the old...

Leica Digilux 3

I have Digilux 3 almost one year now.Still sataisfied with it. Just play with Manual focus lens "R" from leica and "OM" from Olympus. Better result than Digilux 3 lens kit.

High ISO not give a good result.

I can't say enough about how I'm enjoying owning this camera. For me, using this camera as my "walk around" makes taking pictures like when it was a hobby. FUN! The feel is great. The analog position of the controls add to the experience of making a...

No problems per se`, just be realistic and recognize high ISO is NOT a strong suit. The ; built in flash while good, is going to have fall off.. etc. etc. These, for me are not ; negatives but rather facts of life

Leica Digilux 3

I recently bought a Leica Digilux 3, having been offered one new at a very keen price. I think the camera itself is very good, but nothing too extraordinary - small dim viewfinder, noisy at high ISOs, soft JPEGs. What really sets it apart is the Leica...

None thus far.

Owners Opinion: Leica Digilux 3 (GIALLO1963, 28 Dec 07)

excellent ready to print jpeg files, excellent lens in bundle (Leica vario elmarit 14-50/2,8-3,5) with stabilizer, little view - finder, not too fast AF, very expensive price...but i'm altogether satisfied. Ideal for reportage and street photography.

Product Specifications

The new Leica D system gives ambitious amateurs and professional photographers a whole new range of possibilities. The LEICA DIGILUX 3 is the first Digilux camera with an interchangeable lens and therefore forms the basis for the Leica D system, a completely independent digital SLR system. The clear design of the camera housing and the operating concept of the Digilux are in keeping with the best Leica tradition. The shutter speed, focal length, aperture and focus can be set by hand on the camera and the lens - a fast, precise and creative solution in comparison with conventional SLR cameras. The interplay of Leica's legendary performance and the latest technology is almost revolutionary: the newly designed lens LEICA D VARIO-ELMARIT f/2.8-3.5/14-50 ASPH. combined with state-of-the-art optical image stabilization and a 7.5 megapixel LiveMos sensor result in a magnificent standard of imaging. High-quality materials and precision craftsmanship ensure that the LEICA DIGILUX 3 will work reliably for many years, even under the tough conditions of reportage photography. The Leica D system is a valuable companion made to last.
