Sony DSLR-A560 Preview

Releasing a successor to the Alpha 550, Sony introduces the α560 dSLR. This powerful unit shoots up to seven frames a second using Sony' s Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor for quick action shots and is also capable of capturing Full HD video (1920x1080 60i)....

Sony DSLR-A560

Announced alongside Sony's attention-grabbing Translucent Mirror cameras, the A33 and A55, the launch of the Sony A560 perhaps was robbed of some attention -- and that's maybe a little unfair, because when compared to its predecessor, the A560 sports...

Excellent 14.2MP sensor ; In body image stabilization ; Stellar battery life ; Fast burst mode rates ; Speedy performance overall ; Good high ISO performance and dynamic range ; Multi-Frame Noise Reduction ISO setting ; Auto HDR was very good, now even...

Sweep Panorama needs improving ; Creaking in grip ; Buffer depth is limited, especially when shooting RAW ; Phase Detection Auto Focus a bit hit and miss sometimes (could be limited to copies sent by Sony) ; Multi-Frame shooting can sound like a racket...

The Depth of Field Preview button is also an important inclusion, heretofore conspicuously absent from the A200, A300, and A500 Alpha models, and its return is welcome. Slick tricks like Sweep Panorama and Handheld Twilight are quite useful modes that...

Sony A560

An interesting SLR with good overall performance, but a few issues hold it back

Generally good color accuracy; Very sharp images overall

Ineffective noise reduction; Flip-out LCD is awkward in use

The Sony Alpha A560 is an interesting SLR: we found that it had good overall performance and was easy to use. But there are a few issues that hold it back: the flip-out LCD screen is useful, but a little awkward to use and doesn’t have the same freedom...

DSLR A-560

This camera is really a great product. it is loaded with features, takes amazing photos and seems to be built very well. I just completed a photography course in which I used this camera and it it out-performed many of the more expensive cameras that...

Easy to use and fast with great photos

none that I have found

If this camera is still in production and available it is a great buy. Possibly the end of an era for Sony. I can not believe all the features and tools it offers. HDR & DRO are just a couple of things you will appreciate.

Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus ; Fast Shutter Speed ; Good Image Quality ; Good Image Stabilization ; High ISO Performance ; Large Clear LCD ; Tilt /Swivel LCD

LCD easy to damage

Sony Alpha DSLR-A560 hands-on test

As well as offering high-speed shooting powers, the DSLR-A560 is one of the first digital SLRs in Sony's Alpha range to include high-definition video-recording capability. We've got high hopes for this snapper.

Shoots high-definition video ; Respectable high-speed shooting capability ; Handy swivelling screen

It's easy to ruin pictures taken with the 'sweep panorama' setting

The image quality, the ergonomics, features, menus

Dust removal inadequate, the sensor in mine was misaligned, had to be sent back for repair & sensor cleaning
