Sony Alpha DSLR-A330 (with 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses, Black)

A modest update over its predecessor, the Sony Alpha DSLR-A300, the Alpha DSLR-A330 offers the same essential feature set in a redesigned body with sufficient quality and performance-enhancing firmware tweaks to merit the term "upgrade." And like its...

Fast Live View AF and single-shot performance; tiltable LCD; dual card slots; relatively simple, straightforward operation; built-in wireless flash and image stabilization; helpful SteadyShot indicator

Smallish grip; middling viewfinder; default settings produce suboptimal photos

The Sony Alpha DSLR-A330 is a solid entry-level dSLR that will surely have its fans, but unless you really want Live View, its cheaper sibling, the A230, is a better deal.

Sony Alpha DSLR-A330

We hoped the new Olympus E-620 would give Canon and Nikon a modicum of competition in the cut-throat DSLR arena, but no such luck—the camera simply didn't measure up. Another week, another new model, but this time Sony's entering the ring. The company...

Sony’s Alpha A330 D-SLR; Stepping Up Into A More Creative Realm

But here are some of the highlights we noticed when working with the Alpha A330

Last but not least is the Menu button, which brings up all the main setups, including image size (this is a 10.2-megapixel chip), raw/JPEG options, aspect ratio (standard or 16:9), color space (sRGB and Adobe RGB), and SteadyShot on or off, Sony's...

Sony A330

The Sony A330 is 10.2-megapixel DSLR that is a follow-up to the groundbreaking A300. I wouldn't necessarily call the Sony A330 an upgrade to the A300 – more like a refresh.

Like I said at the outset of this review, the Sony A330 is an excellent camera for those of you looking to make the switch from a point and shoot camera to a DSLR. If you like being able to frame your scene on the back of the camera’s LCD, you’ll love...

"A good simple beginner DSLR entry level camera"

My first DSLR. Very simple to use and helped my shutterbug experiences. Learnt alot from this camera due to the simple instructions when changing settings like aperture, shutter speed. Light and compact.

Simple to use. Pictures are crisp. Viewfinder is nice

Battery life is horrible. If you plan to take light streaks and long exposure, remember to get an extra battery. Drains really fast.
