Goodmans GHD1621F2 Freeview PVR

If you don't want Sky+, take a closer look at this PVR featuring Freeview Playback and a decent price tag.

The SCARTs are joined by analogue stereo and coaxial digital audio outputs, the latter being a useful addition if you want to listen to TV sound through your home cinema system.

Goodman’s 160GB Twin Tuner PVR : Goodman’s GHD1621F2 160GB Twin Tuner PVR

This unit can record two streams at the same time, or as more likely to happen record one item and start a second recording before the first one finishes so it's a twin tuner.

It is 30x25x5cm and black and grey in colours. You need another 4cm on the 25cm depth to allow for connection of cables. So unpack and plug your coaxial into the rear and the provided SCART lead also. Next plug the 13amp plug into the mains. Your TV...

Goodmans GHD1621F2

The metal-cased design is surprisingly attractive for a set-top box with an angled mirrored front panel featuring subtle neon green lighting, which leaves the display looking like it's suspended within the device. Like its rivals there's an integrated...

Stylish design; exceptionally easy to use; excellent picture and recording quality

Dull remote; slightly limited connectivity

Goodmans GHD1621F2

Very simple to use, clear onscreen menus and instructions. Small in size, neat and compact. Nearly all channels very good reception. Happy with purchase, even with minor problem (see bad points). Would definitely recommend.

Pixelates very badly on Channel 5 (not a reception/aerial problem as other Digital receiver and analogue TV no pixellation, just with PVR). Doesn't seem to want to "talk" to my other Digital receiver : I wanted to record from my Telewest Digibox (more...

Goodmans GHD1621F2

It was easy to set up and use - I have never set up anything like this before - but I just followed the instructions and it worked straight away

In bad weather the image is sometimes distorted and it makes a funny noise

Goodmans GHD1621F2

Nice design, easy to use, farily cheap

Go into the EPG, look around at programs and then go back to watching channell and the sound is out of sync with the picture. Watch a recorded program and every now and again, sound drops out for a second or two. When a recording starts on another...

Goodmans GHD1621F2

I'd heard that some PVRs can be quite noisy - this one is silent. The picture quality is excellent and the initial set up was very easy - the Goodmans automatically searching for all available channels. It has an excellent program guide and it is very...

Accessing your recordings means going through a couple of menus via the remote - instead of having a dedicated button which takes you to them. Some of the instructions are a little vague. These are minor quibbles however as I bought the machine for my...
