KiSS HD Recorder DP-558

The DP-558 is an extremely feature-rich DVD recorder with few file limitations. At the same time, it's also a somewhat unstable unit that could have done with better industrial design.

Supports XVid, DivX, MPEG ; Streams media effortlessly ; Free EPG ; Online Weather ; Pauses live TV ; Easy setup

Poorly constructed ; Ugly unit ; Stability issues ; EPG doesn't integrate well with subscription TV

I don't kow how was support before, but now, Linksys offers online chat support for KISS DP-558, so you get your answer about any issue in a minute.

If you have computer with your pictures, mp3 music and videos, you need to buy KISS DP-558 as you could simply show/play or your files where you should (in your living room) ; You can turn it into wireless very simple: Buy wireless AccessPoint and set...

Buggy? Yes sometimes, but hey, I rather have all this wonderfull functions that the unit has, than put any so called "wonderful designed" box in my living room just for recording purpose

KiSS HD Recorder DP-558

I love it! Had it for a year now and will hopefully have it for another 3 years! Maybe I am lucky, but I do not seem to have the problems others occur to have.

Lots of nice features ; easy to uppgrade ; I can pause a LIVE hockeygame when I have to use the bathroom, and I don´t miss a second of the game..:-)))) ; No need for my sweet old VCR!!!*YES ; and much much more

BIG AND UGLY ; My friends wants to steal it ; have no place to put my old VCR ; Have to clean out my closet to make room for my VCR ; Almost got a burn-injury because it gets very hot ; Maybe it could be a bit faster in the start-up

"What are industry waiting for?"

It´s strange to have lots of S*** on market, and only one manufacturer has what really people is looking for. We are in Internet: Audio, Video era, and some manufactures simple put commercial formats like Divx, mp3 and just forget Xvid and Ogg formats....

Good support in a simple web-site, has lots of features not found anywhere else. Has what all computers lovers wants. Work bad? (Beacause of its lots of features is natural in some aspects, but...) Go download the firmware, always updated
