LG RHT497H DVD / HDD Recorder

Digital TV recorders don't have to be expensive, as LG's new RHT497H proves.

Rear-panel connections are generous. The roster includes an all-important HDMI output, and thanks to the built-in upscaler it can send video to your TV in 1080p, 1080i or 720p. It's joined by component, RGB Scart and S-video outputs, while on the audio...

LG Digital DVD Recorder + HDD : LG Digital DVD Recorder + HDD RHT497H

This unit has a built in Freeview box so anyone with only an Analog TV can now move on and since it can play (and record) DVD's as well as record either to the HDD or direct to DVD you have the best of both in a single unit.

The LG RHT497H measures 43x30x5cm with leads inserted. The front has a four position circular control and two drop down flaps (more on these in a bit) while the front edge of the top has a button at each end. The sides, underneath and rest of the top...

LG RHT497H

LG's little black box may have an absurdly complicated name, but the premise is simple: whack this under your telly, and it'll blast out DVD and Freeview upscaled all the way to 1080p high def. The 160GB HDD will store up to 477 hours of video and you...

If you don't want a satellite on your roof, this as good a way as any to get better resolution video slung to your screen. Feature-wise, there's nothing frivolous included, or anything sorely missing. It's essentially the Ryan Giggs of set top boxes:...

DVD + HDD recorder, thank goodness!

Our old Toshiba DVD/HDD recorder gradually 'died' (HDD kept corrupting so we lost more and more recording space, it stopped recording discs and stopped playing DVDS = dead!!) so we needed a replacement fast. Very hard to find a DVD recorder these days...

Hairless!

Difficult to set up recordings that work, also very very slow when first switched on. Likes to record for 2mins 59sec only on both hard drive and DVD before locking up.

Worst purchase ever

I bought it on thursday, installed it on friday, worked ok on saturday & sunday, i.e. watching & recording. Monday I went to watch a recording & lovely picture but no sound at all. There was no sound on the recording or when using as a freeview to watch.

Sadly already broken

This product seemed to work for about 10 minutes. However slowly the machine slowed down until it ground to a halt. The machine's software appeared to be failing it from the very start. However, Argos staff were great when I returned it after only 3...
