Panasonic DMR-EH50

Manual does not inform you that this DVD has a software package which I had to download from Panasonic site and install to correct errors in the original software.

Good quality recording and playback, but very complex procedures

Manual is poorly written and omits some important features

I have had one for 3 years. It now has stopped working properly. Takes 20-30 seconds to react to a command. Sometimes it will allow me to sched a prog, sometimes it will not respond.

Playback pictures are very good

remote is complicated to use

Panasonic DMR-EH50

This is the second DVD/DVR's i've owned, the first being the phillips HDRW720, which I had nothing but problems with. The EH50 has been great. Easy set up and recording and I had no problems with Bresnan Digital Cable. The User Interface could use a...

100 GB hard drive, great recording quality, high speed recording, Free TV Guide

Horrible User Manual (luckily its fairly ease to use), No pause/rewind live TV function

Easy scheduler. Produces good quality DVDs. HDD very useful. Realively easy to remove commercials from off air broadcasts

Omnipresent TV Guide interface whether used or not (I don't). When creating and combining chapters, leaves a chapter "marker" when one is not desired

Seems to work ok in the manual mode. I live in the Raleigh area and the TV Guide will not load from Time Warner digital. Panasonic needs to provide an instructional DVD with the unit. Most frustrating trying to follow the manual.

Many formats and large HDD

Terrible documentatilon

Panasonic does it right again

So I've had this recorder for over a year and a half. I use it every day to record for later viewing and archiving when I want to keep it. It records to hard drive flawlessly and archives to DVD +/- R, 99% of the time. Sometimes if the video has been...

Good menu navigation, 99% dependable dubbing, 100% hard drive recording and scheduling

The newer models have firewire input

Hearty machine

I'm on my second DMR-E50. The first one finally died after a year's hard labor (daily, nonstop use). I bought my second one shortly thereafter, and it's going strong. Excellent machine if you don't need a hard drive for editing.

Produces discs that work in all machines; produces an excellent produce; hearty

Doesn't produce an excellent product beyond the 3 hour mode

Good bye to the VCR

I was getting tired of juggling tapes around... putting them in to see what was recorded on them to make sure I didn't tape over anything I hadn't seen yet, etc. Then having a bad recording because the tape I used several times was worn out. Plus I...

Ease of use, functionality, versatility

None really

Good VCR Replacement

My good old VCR was dieing a slow death. You can't fine a good VCR for sale anymore, you have to go with a DVD recorder. There are many out on the market and their prices are going down fast, but if you spend a little more You can get a great machine.

100 mg harddrive, quite small easy set up

24 hour setup for TV guide, Manual

Product Specifications

Improved horizontal resolution in LP mode renders images twice as sharp as last year's models, delivering up to 500 lines of horizontal resolution. What's more, this model has the PAL Progressive Scan feature, so you can enjoy highly detailed, high-resolution playback.
