Panasonic DVD/VCR combo units

No one in his right mind would pay over $100 for a used Panasonic recorder based on the horror stories in the forums. I myself have had 5 Panasonic DMR Combo recorders in the last year.( 1 new and 1 refurb DMR-EZ48, 1 new and 1 used DMR-ES46V, and 1...

Panasonic does it again.

I have been using this madchine for several years now and I haven't had a minutes trouble. It gives an excellent recording on DVD or VHS. Transfer from VHS to DVD is fast and simple for non-protected media. I had hoped to record all of my VHS tapes to...

If you're converting VHS to DVD, you better work fast

because the lifespan of this unit is amazingly short. Plays DVDs and VHS tapes fine and recording (and copying) is fairly easy. Still, it was less than a year before I got an error code on the front panel. I had to send the unit to Panasonic for a $130...

Terrible rurability

This unit worked well but died after only 7 months of use. Avoid Panasonic equipment. It's a waste of money.

Just ok till failed...

Paid big bucks for this thinking I'd get a quality machine. In the 1st place the manual is NINETY SIX PAGES LONG!!!!! Worked ok transferring from VHS to dvd and recording on DVD but there is a real learning curve. Should be simpler than it is. After...

Will play about 18 DVDs before breaking

Will play about 18 DVDs before breaking

You can Google any of these Panasonic DVD players and it appears they will all do the same as mine did with this model. Work at most 18 months and then give you a NoRead signal which you can't fix. I only played about 18 DVDs on this!

Good quality workhorse

I've had this machine for at least a couple years and it has performed extremely well and it is used every day. I would advise that it does seem to prefer Sony DVD's however, I had some problems with Memorex (they would stop mid-recording) which likely...

Product Specifications

Incredibly versatile and format friendly, this DVD recorder can record to and play back just about any DVD you can throw at it. Specifically, it can record to and play back DVD-R/-RW/-RAM/+R/+RW discs. It can also play back many more disc formats, including: DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, DVD-R(dual layer), DVD+R(dual layer), CD, CD-DA, and CD-R/RW(including MP3 and JPEG files). With a Panasonic DVD recorder, never think twice about what disc you need. This DVD recorder can record an amazing 500 lines of horizontal resolution in LP Mode, which is twice the 250 lines of resolution offered by conventional LP Mode recording. What does this mean? It means that you can now record longer (4 hours on a single-sided DVD-R or -RAM disc as opposed to 2 hours) and still enjoy the crisp, vibrant images with exceptional detail that 500 lines of horizontal resolution deliver. When connected to an HDMI-compatible TV via an HDMI cable, this DVD recorder can up-convert the DVD content that you're watching to 720p or 1080i resolution (depending on your TV's display capability) so you can enjoy beautiful, high-quality imagery in high definition. You sit down to watch this week's episode of your favorite show and realize that you never got around to watching your recording of last week's episode. Not a problem with Time Slip, featuring simultaneous record and play. Select this week's episode in the program guide, start recording, and as it records you can watch your recording of last week's episode. What if you set up your DVD recorder to record a movie from 8:00 to 10:00 while you're out, but dinner was faster than you expected and you get home early? With Panasonic's Chasing Playback feature, you don't have to wait for the program to finish recording in order to watch it. You can begin watching the portion of the program that has already been saved while the DVD recorder continues recording the remainder of the program. If you own a VCR, it's almost certain that at some point someone has accidentally recorded over a movie or show that you wanted to keep. One-Touch Record will save your favorite programs from the same fate by automatically scanning the disc for blank space before starting the recording process. No more worries that your favorite sitcom's season finale will be overwritten by a family member's Sunday fishing show. You and your family are sure to enjoy the convenience of your DVD recorder so much that you'll have a large library of recordings in no time. Keeping track of all those programs would be difficult if it weren't for Panasonic's enhanced Direct Navigator, which displays thumbnails of every program on the disc as you browse, making it easy to identify the contents of each recording. It can be heartbreaking when you play an old VHS home video and find that years of playback have degraded the image and sound quality. Preserve your precious VHS tapes by transferring them to DVD, which will provide durability and many years of enjoyment. With One-Touch 2-Way Transfer, you can dub a VHS tape to DVD by pushing a single button. The goal of any playback device should be accurate reproduction of the original content. In the case of DVDs, most of that content is film-based. Utilizing advanced progressive scan playback techniques and very accurate MPEG video decoders, this DVD recorder provides an image that faithfully represents the image you see at your favorite movie theater.
