Panasonic DMR-EZ28

Panasonic DMR-EZ28 does not record Scheduled Recordings I have a Panasonic DVD recorder, DMR-EZ28. Which has 5 "weekly" scheduled recordings. (Total: 4 1/2 hours @ Extended Play). The unit skips roughly every other scheduled recordings and enters an error code: "You interrupted the recording", which I can’t do since I'm not even at home! And the code must be removed before the next week, or the unit will never record that exact scheduled recording again. And about every 4th or 5th scheduled recording, the unit turns itself on and freezes. I come home later that evening or from vacation, and the unit is on but frozen. Remote won't work. Must hold the Power button down for 30 sec. to force a reboot. Sometimes I even have to hold the UP + Down channel buttons down for 30 sec. to force a "Factory Reboot" which wipes out all set-up and programming, to get the unit to power down. I was on the phone with Panasonic for 6-8 months over this, and they eventually agreed if I paid to ship the unit to McAllen TX, they would send me a new unit. Which I did. The second unit (dif. ser. #) is doing the exact same thing. It's going on 2 years now and I'm sick of "Panasonic".

Panasonic DMR EZ28K

The Panasonic DMR EZ28K does a good job of doing what it's supposed to: record TV shows and playback DVDs. This would be a good solution for anyone looking for a no hassle way of recording and playing back DVDs.

King of the Junk

I deal with a whole lot of digi, resolution, and tuned up'ed tech stuff.. saw the EZ28K vs the Toshiba-DR570 and the latter beats the crap outta the Panasonic. If i was panasonic I would embarassed to put a product out like this..nothing but...

there is absolutely zero about this product, total piece.. worthless..spent 50 dollars less and get the toshiba 570

It does output digital broadcast at HD resolution!

I never paid much attention to DVD recorder until very recently, when I searched for a way to record HDTV programs off the air (I am done paying monthly fee for DVR or TiVO). And I seldom write product review. I just got my Panasonic DMR-EZ28K from my...

Good digital tuner - at HD resolution ; Good DVD 1080p quality ; Good DVD recording quality ; Supports DVD-RAM ; Includes many user-friendly features

1. It has to be off in order for scheduled recording to begin ; 2. When recording is taking place, you cannot change the channel. Fortunately, it has an RF out that allows me to connect a coaxial cable (pass-through) to my 52" Samsung

Awesome Player - when it doesn't freeze up!

We purchased two units to get ready for the OTA switch to digital. We thought that two compatible units would allow us to use RAM disks and move between the player downstairs and the unit upstairs. The units are easy to set up and have a great tuner...

Great remote - works well with Television. Super quality upconvert of DVD's to near HD quality. Easy to set up programming, it does the heavy lifting

The unit has a tendency to freeze up and stop playing. Sometimes it locks up completely and has to be unplugged for 30 seconds. Firmware upgrade instructions were easy to follow but unit does not readily acknowledge the new load

A very good DVD recorder for general use

This DVD recorder is connected to a Sony Bravia 1080p LCD HDTV through a HDMI cable. I planned to have this DVD recorder in place of a VCR in this digital age. I have used this DVD recorder since Jan. 2009 and have gotten used to its capabilities as...

I like the good quality of LP recording, digital tuner, HDMI output, DivX capable, full featured for recording

I had some issues with the non-intuitive text input for titles, resetting the recorder for playing disks, slightly complicated to use remote

Great for converting old video tapes

Ease of use and flex recording are very good

Very Solid Product from My Experience

I bought the DMR-EZ28K in September 2008 and I've been using it for 5 months. I wanted to find a recorder that I could use to record television programs throughout the week. I have basic cable service and I wanted a recorder that had a built-in cable...

DVD-RAM media makes this work like a DVR, Clear QAM tuner picks up the free digital and HD channels from my cable company

Remote control takes some getting used to, I wish I could watch a different live channel while recording on another

The HDMI rendering is good compared to not having any before

It takes a tremendous amount of time to get the system setup. Surfing channels is not possible it may take 2 seconds to render a channel. My Insight tuner is better than this twice as costly system! This is being returned ASAP

Product Specifications

By interpolating video data using proprietary algorithms, SD format data is up-converted to 1080 x 1920p HD format video data. This conversion increases the richness of the original data by almost six fold, producing the highest possible image quality when viewing content on a large-screen HDTV. The high-performance hybrid digital tuner is capable of receiving both digital and analog broadcasts. And even when digital signals drop out because of interference with direct signal access, which makes the picture either disappear or become filled with block noise, the Digital Tuner still produces a beautiful picture. Connect your Panasonic DVD recorder to your VIERA flat-panel HDTV via an HDMI cable, and the TV channel setting information is automatically downloaded to the recorder. Once the Auto Preset Download is complete, the DVD recorder will keep whichever TV channel you're watching as its receiving channel. This means you can record the program you're watching by just pressing the Record button on the VIERA remote. With VIERALink
