the good: does so many things: dubs from every type of media to DVD. interacts well with satellite, cable and a slough of TV brands. easy to use remote. programmed recording records beautifully. editing recorded programs is so nice with icon-making...

Works as advertised- a few quirks

I'm not sure why a previous reviewer had so much trouble, but I found that recording from DVD to VHS was not difficult at all. It does require a few steps to make sure you have the settings you want but you shouldn't have to change them after that...

Fun toy, but did not work with my DV camera.

I bought this thing for three reasons: 1) Quickly make DV Camera -> DVD transfers. 2) Play DivX's and MP3s, DVD+R(W), etc. 3) Do VHS->DVD one day. 1) I plugged in the Canon ZR90 DV camera with IEEE1394 cable. Switched it to play mode, switched on...

Hype for this product led me to believe I could put a VHS tape in the tape side, a writeable disk in the dvd side, press "dub vcr to dvd" and my tape would be copied to dvd. NOT! It actually requires 9 maneuvers on the confusing remote. It copied 1 45...
