Philips DVDR615 review

Philips's stylish entry-level DVD Editor's note: We have changed the rating in this review to reflect recent changes in our rating scale. Click here to find out more.

Extremely sleek look; above-average recording quality in four-hour mode; component-video and FireWire inputs.

Confusing menus; terrible remote; spotty DVD-R/RW playback compatibility.

This entry-level DVD recorder offers a FireWire input, but its confusing menus and useless remote will confound beginners.

Nice looking box. Works well once firmware upgraded. Lots of I/O ports. Creates great DVDs.

Bad remote, problems with on screen display, editing video chapters can be tricky
