The RDR-GX7 might be a relatively small step for a consumer electronics company, but it's a giant leap for consumers who don't want to worry about which recordable DVD format to use. If you want to record a disc that will be compatible with most normal...

RDR-GX7 DVD Recorder

Before buying, I asked the salesperson if the unit played MP3 discs, since that capability wasn't shown on the display. Without hesitation, the salesguy responded with a resounding "Yes!". Naturally, when I brought the unit home, the first thing I...

Records on 3 out of the 4 popular consumer formats (-R/RW, +RW; I don't consider DVD-RAM to be a "popular" consumer format) ; The first Sony progressive DVD player that does NOT have the chroma upsampling error ; Excellent de-interlacer; able to handle...

No +R recording support ; No +VR support on +RW discs. (ie. You can't perform advanced editing features such as adding chapters) ; No MP3 playback ; Resume feature is very limited (once the disc is ejected, the resume memory is lost) ; Play"...

Great recorder for $250

Sony RDR-GX7 can't use 16x DVD discs - HELP!

This does a great job with the video at SP 2 hour speed. Use namebrand DVDs, and no coasters; BUT, SONY has screwed-us! You cannot use DVD-R that have the capability to record at 16x speed, even though the discs say 1x-16x, this recorder will NOT...

Well constructed, camcorder input, decent menus, DVD-+RW, DVD-R

no DVD+R on this unit, MUST USE 8x or SLOWER DVD

Sony player can't Play Sony DVD Da Vinci Code?

I just bought a brand-new DVD (from Sony pictures) of The Da Vinci Code. It has a goldish hue on the data side. My player doesn't recognize it. Also: It seems to take forever to load a DVD.

It records DVDs

Well, can't play a Sony DVD! Also, slow to load

Awesome recorder!!!

Reliable, ease of use, appears to be built well, great picture, good recordings. After chronic problems with an RCA recorder, and after swapping it 3 times, I broke down and bought a Sony. Best decision I have made in a while

To access all features, you need the factory remote not just a universal
