Sony Rdr-vx530

The Sony Rdr-vx530 is a very capable DVD Recorder/VCR Combo player that produces high quality recordings with relative ease. Like with most recording devices, there is software to learn, so there is a learning curve. This is a case where reading the...

Overall a good product, especially if you can get it for drastically less than MSRP

Bottom line, I wouldn't recomment this unit to anyone. It was kept in excellent condition and is document as "excellent" by repair shop but performance in 2nd year declined to the point of it only functioning as a player. As a recorder it has died.

DVD had good resolution at LP. Ease of programming

Loads VERY slowly. Softward has stopped working. Unit rejects all brand new disks. Unit won't erase, won't unformat, skips recordings, and timer programs jam and can't be edited. Must be deleted and reset

1. If you copy your video to DVDs, many will not play on DVD players. Yes, the directions warn you of this and instruct you in the variety of recording options, but this doesn't really change anything. You still cannot watch the DVDs and we didn't have...

I thought it would be good for recording our tapes to DVD, but it's not

It does nothing good. See below for details

I wouldn't buy it again that is for sure. In fact I have found that most of Sony products have problems. The only Sony I had that was good I bought like 20 years ago. I guess they don't make them like they used to.

I liked that it was a vhs and dvd player, and that it had all the right connections on the back needed

It was a total waist of money I spent on this product. I only used the vhs maybe 4 times then it stopped working. How wonderful for Sony that I couldn't find my reciept or had any idea if the warranty was still valid

I went to a retail establishment that generally sells electronic products but mixes in re-furbed items with their "new" inventory. This store had too many returned RDR-RX530's for the same reason. "Disk could'nt be formatted".

Heavy-duty box - old school design a plus for deck stacking

Glitchy!!! Unit has possible software/hardware problem

Horrific, trainwreck excuse for machinery. No really.

Here is why you should run the other way screaming, or at least just run away. 1. If you copy your video to DVDs, many will not play on DVD players. Yes, the directions warn you of this and instruct you in the variety of recording options, but this...

Sony RDR-VX530 DVD/VCR recorder player

The Sony RDR-VX530 is everything I expected in a DVD/VCR recorder player. While I have not done much in the way of Recording (other than tests), I have watched recorded movies on both DVD's and VCR's and find that the pictures are very clear and the...

Electroinc Purchase

Product was exactly what was wanted and arrived in excellent condition in a very short period of time. Directions that came with the product could have been a little more detailed, but that is a problem with the manufacturer.
