Review: TiVo Series 3 Lite

The new TiVo HD may be right around the corner, but that doesn't mean we don't have love for its older, wiser cousin, the Series3....

Whopping 250GB hard drive holds up to 32 hours of HD programming. Supports remote scheduling via the web. Backlit remote control for easy channel surfing in the dark. Parent-friendly KidZone keeps the tykes away from racy content

Crazy expensive, and that’s not counting the monthly fee. Requires a digital antenna or CableCard decoder for dual-tuner use. Doesn’t support TiVoToGo or multi-room viewing

The Elph Goes Digital

Dual-tuner HD recorder. Updated remote now fully backlit. Very easy to use.

The TiVo Series3 is a solid, dual-tuning HD recorder that can be used with off-air and cable sources, but this early version is expensive and its menus are not completely optimized for HD displays.

TiVo Series3 HD DVR

According to Wikipedia, TiVo was started in 1997 by Jim Barton and Mike Ramsay, veterans of Silicon Graphics and Time-Warner's Full Service Network digital video system. What started out being a home network solution morphed into what we now know as a...

TiVo Series3 HD DVR

The TiVo is an excellent DVR, the best that I have yet had in my home, in fact. But is it worth the money? The TiVo is more than just a DVR; it's a convergence device that connects you to other services over the Internet as well as the ability to...

TiVo TCD648250B 300-hour Series3 Dual Tuner HD Digital Video Recorder

Excellent product. I've owned two other TiVo DVRs and never had a problem with them. I've owned this HD box for two months and so far so good. I got two Cable Cards from Time Warner Cable and was able to get rid of my cable box. That's saving me...

Frankly, the TiVo Glo Remote Control that comes with this unit is not to my liking. Yes, it glows but I don't consider that much of a benefit. The issue for me is the remote's tactile quality. Compared to standard TiVo remotes -- which have soft...

Best DVR

The reviewer expecting 1080p on a DVR is unrealistic. There is no advantage to 1080p when the broadcast source is 1080i. There are no broadcast sources delivering 1080p today.

Best DVR on the market. Hi-Def picture and sound. THX certified and integrates with Crestron. Front panel OLED is useful and cool.

Expensive but worth it! Interface could be quicker and slicker. The interface is essentially the same experience as older models.

So basically what used to be the best dvr bar none is no longer available unless your willing to shell out $500 dollars thats just going to get replaced in an year. 1080p is already looking at getting replaced with 2k and 4k on the horizon. Analog tv...

highest resolution is 1080i unlike some of the other reviews on here, I actually get high end equipment. For something that costs $500 I expect quality. 1080i is a waste. blu-ray dvd players have 1080p and are selling for $200 dollars(As of the defeat...

I'm Very Impressed

I buy high-end equipment and have very high demands for quality and performance. In most cases, I am lucky if things live up to my expectations. In this case, the TiVo Series 3 has far surpassed any expectation I had. It performs great, and includes...

Fantastic picture quality. HD will knock your socks off. Digital cable looks fantastic as well, near DVD quality at 480p. CableCard installation by Cox Communications was a snap. No issues. Unit runs quiet and stays relatively cool.OLED display on...

I wish it had a coaxial digital out in addition to the HDMI and optical outs. Also, an automatic ""commercial advance"" where you can hit a button and skip ahead 30 seconds in one jump would be nice. It would be great if you could browse to shared...
