Slow & slower. 30-40 sec to see disk, 3-5 sec/channel.

My cable box has "remote commander". This unit will power on, but the 30-40 seconds to get running and recognize the disk always means that the "start recording" command fails to be recognized by the unit. I bought originally for VCR and clear-QAM, and...

The feature list; but never buy a Toshiba product without the ability to test it in the store (probably holds true for most electronic gear, but ...)

Slowness, slowness, slowness. Seemingly dead DVD drive after just 18 months (was recording, but now won't recognize any disk after it formats it)

Toshiba D-VR650 - DVD recorder/ VCR combo

I had the same problem the other users did with the "tv input error." Toshiba-no help.

Works well when it works

Great features, poor execution

OK, I admit it. I was an early adopter, so I suppose I have only myself to blame for all of the returns. (BTW, Toshiba will issue a UPS label for the return if you insist.) That said, the recorder is now working pretty well, and, for the price, its a...

very over rated !

I don't know why the power cord is so short on this unit, I paid 280 USD and you would think you would get a power cord as long as most units, not on the D-VR650KU and the owner's manual is most disgusting.I am returning this item back to the store and...

Sorry but no sale

I got this model direct from Toshiba when I sent in an earlier Toshiba model to be repaired. The earlier one could not be repaired, so this model was sent as a replacement. When I hooked the 650 up, I could never get the machine to dub a tape to disk....

I could find none

One, but it's a biggie

Not the best DVR

I would not recommend this product for this brand. I have a TV of this brand that is the best HDTV I have ever used. That is why I purchased this item was because of the tv I bought being so awesome.

Has a lot of features. Higher quality than other brands with similar functionality

Will not record some over the air channels which I could with other DVRs. Remote does not handle other devices! Change changing is kinda slow, but I have seen worse

Toshiba D-VR650 DVD Recorder / VCR Combo

Maybe the functions we don't use are good.

Misidentifies digital over-the-air broadcasts as content-protected and will not record them. Timer function is terrible.

The versitility is worth it.

It's worth is because of the Versitility of the product. It has an RF and a Digital imput. RF's are harder to find on newer products. I like the fact you can move vcr memories to disks. I like Toshiba best for things like this.
