Toshiba BDX2400 review

Entry-level Blu-ray player ain't smart

Pin-sharp Blu-ray ; Low price ; Small size ; Speedy BBC iPlayer ; File support from USB

No front display ; Basic interface ; Lacks Wi-Fi ; Unresponsive remote ; No app store

Toshiba BDX2400

Toshiba's budget Blu-ray deck offers online streaming for peanuts

Sleek, stylish design ; Useful online services ; Impressive picture quality

Wi-Fi not built-in ; Rivals offer wider range of online content ; Limited DLNA format support

Rounding up the features we find Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio decoding and 1080p DVD upscaling. The BDX3400 and BDX5400 both support Miracast thanks to their built-in Wi-Fi connections but the BDX2400 does not.

Poor Internet Performance

The Blue-Ray player seems to work fine but Netflix is choppy with high pitched blips. It works fine on Wii in another room. I wouldn't recommend.

WARNING

I have owned this player for awhile now! The first thing that happened was the CD player stopped working. Then the machine began to hang and I would have to unplug to restore. It got worse with Netflix!
