Bangai O Spirits

Bangai-O Spirits has a lot to live up to. Gunstar Heroes, Ikaruga, Radiant Silvergun, and the 1994 original Bangai-O all precede it, and with those games Treasure built up a reputation for creating unique and challenging shooters with a fun and...

Bangai-O Spirits Review

Ok, pop quiz—what's Bangai-O Spirits? A) A professional curling team, B) A new sake-based cocktail mixer, or C) A Japanese leprechaun?

The Bad: Uneven difficulty, too-busy graphics, slowdown on dense levels.

Bangai-O Spirits

If you enjoy freakishly difficult games as you whittle away at your down time on your Nintendo DS, by all means, check out Bangai-O Spirits.

Bangai-O Spirits has all the ever-lovin' trappings of old school, side-scrolling Anime; a classic shoot- slice- & smash-o-rama with a giant robot, replete with way too many thing going at once, most of it swaddled in excessive pyrotechnics.

There are a million missiles closing in on you! Think fast or you're dead.

A challenging blend of shooting action and strategy; full-featured level creator

It's definitely going to be too difficult for most players; no cohesive single-player mode

document.write(""); You see, victory in this game requires a lot more strategy than all the lasers and robots might lead you to believe. Before entering each stage, you must first select the weapons with which you equip your Bangai-O. These can range...

Bangai-O Spirits Nintendo DS Review

All you need to know is that you control a super-robot with explosive capabilities. It can fire homing missiles, bouncing lasers, swing a baseball bat and sword and launch eye-popping special attacks by storing energy generated by fruit. You'll need...

Plenty of levels, a splendid mix of shooting and strategy, you can create your own levels, co-op for up to four players, wild gameplay

Crazy hard

Treasure never ceases to amaze us. Its resume reads like a "must-have" game collection; Radiant Silvergun, Gunstar Heroes, Guardian Heroes and this year's must-have XBLA shooter Ikaruga. One of its forgotten classics, Bangai-O for the Dreamcast, gets a...

I have played some hard games in my time. Chief among these impossibly hard games would have to be Shiren the Wanderer, Castlevania, and Ikaruga. But man, Bangai-O Spirits presents a real challenge, even for the most seasoned, hardcore gamer

Bangai-O Spirits (NDS)

Bang and the dirt is gone.

The best thing I can say about BoS is that I never once got angry with it. Most games that throw you in at the deep end and expect you to learn to swim, before you drown in boredom (looking at you, Geo Wars) earn my contempt. Here, I feel I’m being...

Bangai-O Spirits (DS) review

A blast from the past ends up pushing 2D shoot-‘em-ups into the future.

For once, a shooter which demands as quick a brain as thumbs. Unique on the DS and well worth a pop.
