Dementium II Review

The survival horror genre is definitely lacking on the Nintendo DS. Good thing there's the Dementium series to freak you out while you're on the go. Dementium II does just that.

Dementium II on the Nintendo DS is the follow up title to Renegade Kid's Dementium that was released a couple of years ago. I must admit, for a handheld survival horror- first person shooter game, the first Dementium somehow gave gamers the scary...

Dementium II is a pretty solid title overall. The game is indeed short but the scary atmosphere the player will experience cannot be found in any handheld game out there. Compared to the first game, Dementium II has a slight improvement and gamers who...

Austin-based developer Renegade Kid hasn't been around long, but with three games made in as many years, it's obvious they're on a roll. Now, the DS-centric team responsible for hand-held titles Moon and Dementium: The Ward brings us the sequel to the...

In the final reckoning, the difference between DII and its predecessor in gameplay terms, is like night and day. While the first game offered a frustrating gaming experience that frankly defeated many gamers, DII has solved all of the previous reasons...

Review: Dementium II (Nintendo DS)

The controls are a tricky beast – they seem fine through the first one-third of the game, and they are, but then the fourth boss happens, and I start damning to controls to Hell.

Good for a little horror on the road

Excellent visuals, great monster design, consistently unsettling atmosphere

Frequent backtracking, short, limited replay value

At four to five hours for the single player, the game isn't terribly long, however by the end when it becomes somewhat clear what the Doctor's true intentions are, and the set up for the inevitable sequel occurs it's hard to feel shortchanged. Folks...

If there's one good thing we can say about the criminally insane, it's that the messed up stuff inside their head isn't spilling out of their ears and into the real world. Unfortunately, we can't...

Fans of horror titles generally have a smaller set of options on handheld consoles than on home videogame machines. While most videogame horror (including the illustrious Silent Hill franchise) falls flat when going portable, newcomer Renegade Kid...

While a short demo, my time with Dementium II left me interested in seeing more. The sequel does address the main problems of the first game, and its action-based, first-person control scheme fits the DS well. What remains to be seen, when the game...

Dementium II Hands-On

It seems like zombies are always involved when we wake up in a strange place with no recollection of how we got there.
