Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 Review

It's not Pokemon, and that's OK.

Great monster design, day and night cycle makes returning to areas challenging, creating new monsters

Uninteresting story, lots of grinding required, easy to miss helpful information

Explore a mysterious island and collect over 300 monsters in this decent Dragon Quest spin-off.

Addicting gameplay ; Over 300 monsters to collect and battle ; Plenty of extra content

Lack of emphasize on story ; Repetitive story

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 doesn’t have the extra content made for Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 Professional, but there’s still plenty to see and catch in the first iterations of Joker 2. Also, a localized copy costs about two thirds of the price...

A combination of endearing critters and solid role-playing gameplay make Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 a pleasant portable adventure.

Offers some different twists on the Dragon Quest formula ; Combining and creating new monsters is fun ; Goofy creature designs add a lot of appeal

Uninteresting story ; Making good monsters requires grinding ; Some elements aren't explained well
