Gunpey DS (DS)

Puzzle game players have contended with cubes, spheres, and other geometric shapes over the years, but lines have been pretty scarce, which is part of what makes Gunpey such a refreshing change of pace. It was originally released on the Japanese...

Tetsuya Mizuguchi and Q Entertainment have jazzed-up another puzzle game, but does this one fall flat?

It's a change from the standard "falling block" puzzle games; great control with the stylus; a couple neat bonuses

The gameplay isn't that interesting; the different modes don't have a lot of variety; the extras are mostly pointless

Super-trippy visuals & sound

Not very addictive for a puzzler

I had an open mind for this puzzle game as I came in with it not having any idea of what to expect anyway. It's not a bad idea for the type of puzzle game it is, however I didn't find it entirely original either. It reminded me a little of Tetris...

Product Specifications

The original concept developed by video game legend Gunpei Yokoi, comes to life on the PSP (PlayStation Portable) system and Nintendo DS! Re-imagined by the creative minds at Q Entertainment, GUNPEY delivers an addictive puzzle game experience, combined with exciting music and visuals for the ultimate game on the go. The player's objective is simple - or is it? Various line angles climb up the screen over five panels, and you must connect all the lines over the five panels, filling the screen from left to right. If an incomplete line reaches the top of the screen, the game is over!
