Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon (DS)

Despite a totally different visual style and the introduction of combat, Rune Factory still delivers a relatively straight-ahead Harvest Moon experience.

Natsume's popular farming series gets a weird twist: now you can fight monsters... or milk them!

Farming and fighting are well-blended; beautiful settings; lots of activities to do

Menus are a pain to navigate; almost no use of DS stylus

This is not fair. I get Innocent Life, and you get this. I have no luck, do I? Post a Comment

Rune Factory does a good job of changing up the Harvest Moon formula many have grown bored with. Veterans may not like the changes at first, but give them a chance and you'll likely find yourself enjoying it.

Sometimes it's not easy being a gamer here in Europe. The wait for games can be excruciatingly long with a year or more in between those in Japan or the US getting a game and the game arriving here in Europe. With a lot of games the situation has...

Well, the wait for Rune Factory is finally over and the wait has been worth it. On the whole it's arguably the best Harvest Moon game to appear on the DS so far. That said, the combat can be a real pain at times and there will be some Harvest Moon...

Rune Factory successfully implements an engaging dungeon crawling aspect without sacrificing, or even significantly altering, the core Harvest Moon formula. It isn't enough to entice those who simply don't enjoy spending a large amount of time planting...

Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon

I just escaped a zombie infested town and then took on a giant mutated monster with a knife on hard difficulty. What did you do?"

The combination of farming and fighting works well ; Plenty to do ; A large selection of girls to seduce ; Lots of upgrades on offer ; Befriending monsters is a nice touch ; Many hours of gameplay

Combat is weak and unimaginative ; Money is too easy to get ; Story is soon forgotten about ; Caves are brief and uninspired ; Game Over' in Harvest Moon ; Running back and forth to the doctor becomes tedious

When the work is out of the way, there's plenty to do and buy around town, as well as a love interest to find. There are several choices on offer, each one a challenge to win over, with replay potential if you want to experience them all. When you...

Ok, this is a niche game that if it suits you is thoroughly absorbing. if you're only interested in platforming / shoot em ups / thumb mashing tension then best move on, this probably ain't for you. Mostly this is a game about farming. growing crops,...
