Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 (DS)

The original was one of the sleeper hits of 2009, endearing itself to many players thanks to its brilliant blend of story, in-depth strategy, and fun collection elements. Though the original Devil Survivor saw a rerelease on the 3DS, the sequel returns...

Review: Devil Survivor 2 for DS

Devil Survivor 2 is a fantastic RPG with strategic and visual novel elements that actually surpasses the original.

Strong story, lots of different party members and demons, can bid, pay or fuse to get new demons, can acquire enemies skills for party members to use, visual novel elements when it comes to making story decisions and there are multiple endings

Lots of demons, enemy, backgrounds and environments were recycled from the original Devil Survivor 2

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2

Remember part one? Get ready for déjà vu.

The game uses the original version’s blend of tactics grid with turn-based RPG menu, rewarding players with extra turns and currency for choosing the right demon and powers to defeat their enemies. You’ll get plenty of practice, since you’ll need to do...

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Review

Enthralling combat and a potent story make Devil Survivor 2 a great strategy role-playing game.

Masterful combat system with lots of depth ; Great story with multiple endings ; Demon fusion system is improved over the original ; Ever-changing variety of combat objectives keeps you on your toes

It's still too easy to make major, game-altering mistakes ; Difficulty spikes considerably in certain fights ; Lack of stylus support in combat is irritating

Each character in combat chooses what sorts of actions he or she wants to perform, be it physical attacks, magic skills, or other support-driven actions. Based on your choices (and a little bit of luck), you can potentially earn extra attack turns that...

Another excellent, if completely predictable, tactical RPG.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Review

I have always been a fan of the Shin Megami Tensei series. Atlus has published some shining examples of the RPG series under the SMT label, including the first Devil Survivor. So, you can probably...

Interesting story ; Good RPG elements ; Demon management is fun ; Nice anime visuals ; Catchy soundtrack

Almost the same as the first game ; Difficulty issues force the player to level grind

I have always been a fan of the Shin Megami Tensei series. Atlus has published some shining examples of the RPG series under the SMT label, including the first Devil Survivor. So, you can probably guess that I was really excited when I found out that a...

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Review

SMT: Devil Survivor was one of the most successful JRPGs on the Nintendo DS platform.

I can't imagine this game not being successful, but hopefully when the time comes for Devil Survivor 3 (I refuse to believe this won't become a long-running franchise) there will be a bit more new content for fans to discover. Simply adding new...

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2- NDS

Devil Survivor 2's mechanical changes make it a better game than its predecessor, and the stories offer the same level of quality. It's just a shame that so much of the sequel feels more like a second playthrough, rather than a new game.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2- NDS

Devil Survivor 2 isn't an anime, and it more than makes up for its lack of originality with well-drawn characters, a branching storyline and excellent mechanics. For that, I'm more than happy to accept any similarities, overt or otherwise, to the most...

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2- NDS

Despite its formulaic start, DS2 stands apart from the rest of the Mega Ten series... maybe not quite enough to distinguish itself for casual fans of the series, but definitely for the obsessed.
