The Legend of Kage 2

If you asked me what 8-bit action game I wanted a sequel to, I would have probably mentioned Kid Icarus, Gun.Smoke or Rolling Thunder. Never in my wildest dreams would I have considered asking for a sequel to The Legend of Kage. It's not that Taito's...

It's the sequel you never knew you wanted; it's The Legend of Kage 2! While it's not especially deep and you can beat it in three short hours, there's no denying that this Taito sequel scratches that nostalgia itch you have. Better still, it retails...

The Legend of Kage 2 Review

The Legend of Kage 2 Slices and Dices Like It's 1989.

Super satisfying old-school gameplay, low price point

All the frustrations that come along with satisfying old-school gameplay

It's just enormously cool that this title exists, despite the fact that the only other title in the series is a 22-year old NES game. It's stylish, fun, and offers a very solid retro experience. If you're looking for an old-school action game that...

The Legend of Kage 2

Taito has created a brand new Super NES action game for the Nintendo DS. Yes, that's a good thing.

Simple, fun ninja action ; Challenging bosses ; Clever magic system ; Great music

Crazy jumping is hard to control ; Clichéd story is same for both characters

Despite a couple of unusual tweaks, Legend of Kage 2 is an unabashedly conventional action game, the kind that we don't often see anymore. Fans of the original Ninja Gaiden titles will adore this less difficult throwback. It's not incredibly long,...

The Legend of Kage 2 Nintendo DS Review

That's because there's nothing unique about it. Taito, instead of tapping into the DS' power, designed a very basic looking side scrolling adventure that's all about slicing your way through ninjas in multicolored outfits. It's a fun time, especially...

Well-drawn 2-D cut scenes, old school graphics, lots of button mashing, cool ninjutsu system

Yawn-inducing stories, lame bosses, watching the same attacks gets old

The Legend of Kage 2, published by Taito, is the sequel to a 1984 arcade game that up until recently (thanks to a release on Wii's Virtual Console) time forgot. It's your stereotypical 2-D hack-and-slash affair that sends you on a mission to save a...

The Legend of Kage 2

We don't see many side-scrolling action games nowadays. There was a time when they were hugely popular, particularly in the arcades in the 1980s. The Legend of Kage 2 is actually a sequel to a very popular arcade game from 1985 (called Kage no Densetsu...

If side-scrolling action games are your thing then The Legend of Kage 2 is well worth a look. The length of the game is a little disappointing and some of the earlier levels are a little too easy but the quality of the boss fights and the difficulty of...

The Legend of Kage 2

A sequel 21 years in the making, The Legend of Kage 2 comes to DS gamers with 12 levels of side-scrolling action for Kage, and a dozen more levels for his female counterpart Chihiro. Every level is filled with elemental spheres that players can pick up an

The Legend of Kage 2

We get ready to hone our Ninjutsu skills in this sequel to Taito's 1985 Arcade game The Legend of Kage.

A rather challenging remake of an old arcade game. It keeps its old school gameplay fresh with the addition of RPG elements and very solid controls. No voice acting and forgettable music are the only downsides.

The Legend of Kage 2

The Legend of Kage 2 pays homage to its 22 year old father extremely well, with a traditional feel that should really excite fans of the side-scrolling genre.

The Legend of Kage 2

The Legend of Kage 2 is a good sequel with great boss battles and plenty of action.

Challenging, rewarding boss battles ; Simple but brisk action bolstered by tight play mechanics ; Achievements that unlock bonus art are a nice touch

A few stretches of filler bog down some levels ; Kage and Chihiro don't play significantly differently from each other ; Can be beaten in around four hours
