The World Ends With You on Nintendo DS

All the Tools at My Disposal

The game handles in an odd way, with its “Stride Cross Battle System”, which puts either half of your ass-kicking duo onto the top or bottom screen of the DS, giving them different controls. However, you will be fighting the same enemies on both...

The World Ends With You

Seriously, what average RPG player was?dying to pick up The World Ends With You? Based on its aesthetic, it appeared to be a game about things that would probably alienate its usual target audience - that is, running around in the streets of a big city...

The game gets off to a slow start, but it blossoms into something amazing that no one could have seen coming. Easily one of the best RPGs of the current generation.

The World Ends With You

For a company generally afflicted with an incurable case of sequels and remakes, Square-Enix took every risk possible when unleashing The World Ends With You (WEWY) on the gaming populace last year. Unrecognizable by any established Japanese RPG...

The World Ends With You review for the DS

You vs. The World!

Captivatingly chaotic; Customizable everything; Enjoyable characters; Epic length

Linear level paths; Repetitive sounds

With its frantic dual-screen battles in a dense little city, The World Ends With You is a surprisingly hardcore, impossibly ambitious DS title. This pint-size powerhouse might sadly intimidate a few DS owners and their Pokeymans. Don't get scared off;...

The World Ends With You

If a year ago someone were to tell me that Square Enix was making a new IP, amidst their constant milking of Final Fantasy 7, I would ask the person to share whatever they were on. Yet here we are now with The World Ends With You, the first fresh and...

It's not the end of the world, and Matt feels fine after getting his hands on Square Enix's latest DS RPG.

I commend Square-Enix on bringing over a very niche title and taking the gamble with both the game mechanics and the audience

The World Ends With You (DS) Review

The World Ends With You is an ultra-hip ultra-modern RPG experience on the DS developed by Jupiter and the team over at SquareEnix. How well did the guys behind some of the most memorable RPGs of our time manage to do in giving DS owners a brand new...

Yeah, The World Ends With You is a great little RPG. Sure, the main character comes off as kind of a prick at the beginning of the game, as do most of the main characters in Square’s RPGs, but their games are fun, and very well-made. Not having to...

The World Ends With You

Square-Enix creates small worlds that players can get lost in. While many argue that the 16-bit era was Square's creative peak, the combined company has still turned out some of the best RPGs in gaming. I argue that the company's recent handheld...

Great character design ; Strong narrative that manages to escape many of the trappings of RPG writing ; Gameplay is challenging and keeps your interest, and the challenge comes on very slowly allowing you to adapt to the unique scheme

Control scheme is going to be more than some player can handle, and the AI partner just doesn't get the job done

This is a great game, it stole my attention completely from the moment I put it in the DS. There is no excuse for you not to get this game. It's an absolute masterpiece.

The World Ends With You

Are you brave enough to wear women's clothing?

Great story ; Great character development ; Tons of clothing to collect ; Interesting stylus-based attacks

Brute force fighting works too well ; D-Pad fighting is an afterthought ; Lots and lots of speech bubbles

To weigh in on the PH meta thread cunningly hidden inside this larger review thread headquarters: The Ocean King Temple was genius precisely because it was so frustrating and repetitive (if you didn't take advantage of the shortcuts). I don't know that...
