Coby DVD298

The Coby DVD298 is an exemplary DVD player. It feels fragile, but as long as you are kind and careful with it, it should serve you well. You will be able to upconvert old DVDs to near-Blu-ray quality and browse photos, music and movies from your camera...

This DVD player comes with an SD card slot and a USB drive

If you lose the remote, you will not be able to navigate USB or SD content

This DVD player has all the features you would expect, but suffers somewhat from poor navigability.

Decent

I don't feel like I got a good deal but I don't feel like I got ripped off either. Other reviewers complain that the tray doesn't open enough. It opens fine. The flimsy tray is fine too, I just wouldn't recommend it for kids b/c they will break it.

Reads burned DVD. Nice display. Appropriate price

The only knock is the cheap plastic construction. The tray is extremely flimsy

Broke in less than 60 days

Such a shame.... we were duped by a few good reviews up front.

Great price, worked well..... for about 58 days

Broke in less than 60 days.... we're trying to see if we can get a refund through the manufacturer since Newegg is only 30 days. :( It had a better rating when we purchased it than it does now that I'm leaving the review

Plays 2:05 of DIVX-XVID and SRT

One of the last few (only?) standalone DIVX/XVID players around for under $50. I wish my old Phillips standalone DIVX player would upconvert...

Upconverting player when you use an HDMI cable. Plays DIVX-XVID and SRT subtitle files up to a certain length (see my comment in "Cons"). Menu system has auto-cycle on filename so you can see the entire name of a DIVX/XVID disc. Quick FF during...

I can only play the first 2 hours and 5 minutes of a DIVX/XVID movie. This has happened to me on two different movies of different lengths but over 2:05... SRT subtitles can only be in purple-- no option to change color. Manual is very unclear,...

Short life

For the price (on sale) and the available formats this worked great but it only lasted 9 weeks and then it was no longer functional. I'd be even more upset if I had bought it at full price...as it is I'm out $40 for 2 months of entertainment. Will make...

Playback on every format available. Very satisfied

for the first 2 months. Then it just flat-out died

Great for the price

Can't argue. It's affordable, and works with most 480 encodes. Fast forward cache works better than much more expensive units I've used

Not the best remote or unit reception from about 12' - 15' away. Barely enough to lose an egg though. I still like the unit. Even if it only lasts a couple years, it's worth the price

Very nice

Nice, always wanted a divx dvd player. Thinking about buying another one. Excellent price

Hard to remove that big sticker that's place on top of it

Cheap

made me mad, shipped it back

plays Divx,price low

package box looked as if it was used ; DVD player kept freezing, remote was cheaply built-nothing special

Works great!

This upconverter works great! I'm very happy with it. It's quick and gets the job done. I have it combined with the 42 inch Hannspree via HDMI. Great picture

The firmware on it is outdated by means of UI but it gets the job done. The menus are easy to navigate. I am having trouble keeping DVD's in 1080P format so I have to go into setup each time to change it. I'm not sure yet what the deal is
