Denon DVD-1930CI Disc Player

People seem to love bashing the last great format war—SACD versus DVD-Audio—in which, of course, there was no real winner. My personal opinion has always been a little different. I consider it a unique pleasure to bask in the warm embrace of 5.1...

Up converting DVD player (Denon dvd-1930ci)

I bought a Pioneer Elite DV-46AV (upconverting to 1080i) DVD player, since I have a lot of Standard Definition DVDs (it cost around $300). I played a few and let me tell you, most of them looked amazing! They were clear, crisp, and had a good ...

One of the few upconverting DVD players to output 1080P!

Average/mediocre remote, basic/mediocre Setup menus, flimsy/cheap DVD tray.

Denon DVD-1930 review

Denon's DVD-1930 features video upscaling using all hi-def resolutions, including the latest 1080p signals. It's ideal if you want to improve the performance of your existing DVDs without spending too much on a next-generation player

Build quality and advanced construction ; 1080p video scaling ; Ease of use ; Excellent picture and sound performance

Ugly remote ; Basic menu system

The audio performance is also a cut above typically restricted DVD players. Multi-channel music discs and standard CDs deliver Denon's trademark warm performance with plenty of refined expression and subtle separation

Denon DVD-1930

The Denon DVD-1930 is one of the best DVD players we've yet seen, with excellent features like HD upscaling and SACD playback -- proof that it pays to spend more on a good unit.

Upscaling to 1080p ; Razor-sharp images ; Excellent music reproduction

Upscaling not always better than 576p ; Need to partner with right equipment

However, some of the higher resolutions actually added noise that wasn't in the original 576p version, for example. It appears video processing gives in some areas but takes away in others. But overall, the results were excellent -- images burst with...

Can support for SACD, DVD-Audio and 1080p video upscaling help the Denon DVD-1930 compete with HD machines?

SACD and DVD-A playback; video scaling (up to 720p)

Video scaling is stretched at 1080p; lightweight construction

denon have done it again. i reckon they absolutely rock... in a day and age of 'make more of them cheaper' denon have stood firmly on being a niche manufacturer offering the best possible within a reasonable budget to achieve a higher end product for...

Denon DVD-1930

I was totally blown away by the video quality of this DVD player. After comparing it with other upscalling DVD's, this is clearly head and shoulders above the rest. Yes, it is more expensive than the other "well known" brands, but you are buying a...

Excellent picture quality ; Excellent Sound ; Feature packed DVD menus

Only HDMI 1.1 ; Larger than some other DVD units
