It died on me.

The player worked fine when new, but has been in a steady state of decline ever since. I assumed this was due to scratched DVDs, but now it won't play brand new ones. Phillips lost a customer. My next DVD player will not be a Phillips brand.

The worst. 3 of these DVD players died in less than a year.

I should have known this was a bad product considering how cheap it was. Anyway, I had three of these break on me in less than a year. I'd like to say I have had luck with technology but thats not the case, this really is an awful dvd player.

GREAT and I WILL UPDATE

I just recieved the DVD player today July 29,2008 and already I LOVE IT. Awesome picture and sound it also plays my Region 2 DVD's perfectly no typing in codes i just popped the dvd in and it started playing i was very Impresed. I would recommend this...

Great for avi and mpg videos, plus NTSC and PAL

Truly unique player, and great price! I did a lot of searching, and could find *no* other DVD players that could play .avi and .mpg (and .mpeg) files, *and* play both NTSC and PAL DVDs -- for such a great price! I am *very* picky, and I just could not ...

1. Play avi & mpg files on data discs2. Play NTSC *and* PAL DVDs.

Doesn't *resume* play on video files on data discs - only with regular DVD discs.

Can't play a complete DVD

Things started out fine but within a year it got bad fast - it can't play an entire DVD without sputtering, skipping, or crawling to a complete halt. Going to throw it in the trash.

A Waste of money

Just like previous reviewers said - my Philips DVP3040 can't play an entire DVD without stopping, sputtering or slowing to a complete halt. Do not waste your money.

Skipping Issues

I had the same problem as the reviewer above. Huge skipping issues, even on brand new DVDs, not too long after purchase. The thing does look terribly cheaply put together.
