Worse home electronic device I've ever owned

Worse home electronic device I've ever owned

This unit is horrible! It takes forever to eject a DVD when commanded, it's excessively slow to switch to another chapter when you command skip between chapters, it won't read home-burned double -layer DVDs (!@#$!), etc. I would steer clear of this...

Buyer beware!

Buyer beware!

I bought THREE of these things over the last two years ... at least two of them from Amazon. (The actual model number was different -- XVC20U in black -- but it's basically the same combo deck they've been selling for several years now. Now they've...

Barely outlived the warranty

Barely outlived the warranty

The on screen instructions for recording television didn't match the actual method required. The DVD/VCR switch no longer functions. Now the program I recorded can't be watched because I can't switch it to VCR, nor can I eject the tape. The warranty...

Works Fine for Me

Works Fine for Me

I have fairly simple needs. I want to be able to watch DVD movies and use a VCR to record programs when I am unavilable to watch them. I don't know the difference between VHS and Beta formats and really don't care about the technical details as long as...

Love this DVD/VCR Set Enough to Purchase One More!

I am very happy with this purchase! Both the DVD and VCR picture image are crystal clear...when pressing Play, the movie comes on immediately (unlike the Sony DVD/VCR combo I have, which simply refuses to play when the "Play" button is pushed, and...

Decent unit, but has a few quirks

It's pretty much impossible to buy a good VCR these days unless it's combined w/ a DVD player. So even though we already had a perfectly fine DVD player, we ended up w/ this unit. Upon initial set up, I was disappointed to find out that the VCR could ...

Solid DVD performance/operation, fast-play speeds to choose, quick transition fast-play to regular play

2 sets of cables to get S-Video quality, doesn't like old tapes, unwieldy timer settings
