Great value for fine quality viewing DVDs

As a DVD player, the JVC XV-S502 works just fine and has all the features and quality you would expect. The remote control, however, is less intuitive and more complex than we would like.

A fine DVD player with lots of features. Good value.

Ultra-slow JPEG image formation. Remote complex, unfriendly. Annoying JVC-logo when CDs played through TV.

Plays DVD, VCD, SVCD, MP3, JPEG Disk. Optional Progressive output.

The "looks" of the unit are underwhelming, and the menu system could use some work.

Great Progressive DVD Player

I have this unit hooked up via component video to a Toshiba TV, and the image quality is fantastic. This unit has very good scaling when bringing a movie from anamorphic wide screen down to letterbox display - shimmers and moire are virtually absent....

High end picture quality - entry-level price

Let's face it, these days the difference between high end and low end electronics increasingly comes down to features, not picture or sound quality. A good example of this trend is the JVC S502SL DVD player. While it lacks the features and sturdy...

I FINALLY got rid of my Samsung for this!

Perhaps you remember me as having all sorts of issues with my Samsung DVD-709 player. Well, recently I replaced it with this JVC model. I originally bought one without the box and it ended up pixelizing any movie I played so I returned it to get one in...

Neat dvd player with potential

I have done some researching on a dvd player that I can be happy with, can do a lot of functions and be upgradable to a component t.v. and the JVC XV-S502SL is the one. For starters the slim design makes it possible for you to place the player...
