Don't recommend.

Bless the nice folks at Onkyo Customer Service for being so courteous and responsive; darn the DVD player for being so crummy.

Picture and audio good. Onkyo Customer Service people try to please.

Very unreliable electrics and software.

Onkyo DV-C601 DVD Player

Great audio and video output, 6 disc carousel. Change disc while watching.

No CD-R/MP3/VCD playback, spotty DVD-R playback, possibly prone to errors, poorly designed remote.

Onkyo DV-C601 DVD Player

I purchased this player for X-Mas 2001 and it has operated fine with low use until now (December 2002). I enjoyed its very nice picture and audio abilities, although I should have done more research at the time of purchase. It doesn't play...

Great sound, less than reliable

I bought this unit based on a recommendation and the great sound from my Onkyo receiver. While the DVD player comes through on the sound side, I've had repeated problems with the unit that tarnished my view of Onkyo.

The best mainstream DVD player!

I have little but praise for this DVD player. It is built like a tank (which I like), but then this could be a disadvantage if you don't have the room. The only other downside is that it has an ugly remote, which is also not entirely bad as it is in...

INCREDIBLE sound, awesome features and 6 disks!

This is one big mother, make sure that you have room for it. Ugly remote.

Not worth the money

I had several requirements for a DVD player: multi-disc support (at least 5), CD-R capability (burned on a home PC or stereo), and a respectable set of features. The salesman at Circuit City told me that this unit had them all, which is true, minus...

Very sturdy, incorporated nicely with my Onkyo receiver, nice features

No CD-R capability, odd remote, hard-to-read tray, very expensive

Product Specifications

Take Onkyo's world-renowned DVD/CD sound quality, add in a slew of advanced video controls, top it off with 6-disc changer convenience, and you've got the DV-C601 - the world's easiest-to-use, best sounding carousel changer out there. It lets you change up to 5-discs during play, so you'll never have to interrupt the audio or video action. And you won't want to - because an advanced Burr-Brown 96 kHz/24-bit DAC system gives this player sound so pure and detailed, it rivals the performance of some of the best CD players out there. Its video capability is right up there with the best, too, boasting some uncommon features like a enhanced black-level control, 3-mode zoom, and the ability to pass PLUGE signals. You'll also find a CD Only mode that automatically skips loaded DVDs and plays only the loaded CDs, a SCART connector, two digital outputs, and a whole lot more.
