Below Average, cheap DVD player

When my husband and I got married, we each had a DVD player. Mine was a large, bulky GE DVD player that took up to much space on our dresser so we decided to use his Oritron DVD600 DVD player in our bedroom. It was smaller and more compact, and took up...

It does occasionally play DVDs without skipping

Hard to figure out, skips very frequently

The chick on the Oritron splash screen was hot (when the system turned on)

It's a hunk of junk.

Who says brand name equals quality.

I have come to realize that there are products out there that are made by companies unknown to some consumers. Oritron is a great example of these products. The Oritron 600 DVD player looks like any other brand name player and is displayed next to...

OK for the Price

This is a clean looking DVD player that, on the surface, seems to have almost everything you need. However, when playing DVD's the sound and video often do not match. Also, when playing MP3's the system seems to get overwhelmed, losing sound for...

Small, cheap, simple clean look, easy to read/use controls on face.

Sound often gets delayed from video. Does not handle MP3's well.

If you don't make 100,000+ buy this baby!

Funny story about my Oritron. I got a DVD stuck in my old Samsung player (a horrible machine) and in a fit of rage decided to would be a good idea to destroy the 200 dollar machine to save the 20 dollar DVD. Anyway after I extracted "Any Given...

Cheap, good picture.

VHS quality in a DVD

I bought the Oritron 600 for my husband for christmas. At first we were very excited even though we didn't really see a difference in picture quality.

The only pro was that it was inexpensive.

Constantly needs cleaning, poor picture quality, not many features.

A Great DVD at a Great Price

I bought this DVD player back in August 2000 for 120 dollars. I just wanted something simple to put in my bedroom. I realized that this was a cheap model and it was great for the price. It has up to ten multidisk resume, supports dolby and DTS...

Easy to use, affordable, good picture quality, great sound

Cheap and not so nasty

This is in reason a great DVD Player but as yet not had the recognition that it deserves. Yes it is cheap and people hate electrical components that are cheap. Take Alba for instance, they are great for electrical equipment but have problems because...

Oritron DVD 600 Emerald DVD Player - A Cheap One

Cheap, very good picture, 5-disc resume, plays CD-RW

Cheap, no front-panel display, no CD-R playback, could be easier to use, flimsy, no even S-Video out, no optical digital out

Product Specifications

Oritron, famous for its lowest-possible-price approach to DVD players, has a sure-fire winner on its hands with the DVD600. For the most part, the DVD600 is a basic DVD player: it passes DVD-based Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround formats, it offers both stereo analog and coaxial digital outputs, and it routes video through two composite-video connections. The DVD600 will let you not only open the drawer, but also remove the disc and start four other DVDs, all the while remembering where you left off on each of them. DVD broadens your A-B repeat options. Now you can savor special effects, dancing, or fast-moving action over and over at the touch of a button. The DVD600's sound and picture quality are very good - that's one area where microchips have helped narrowed the quality gap between cheap and expensive electronics. The sound from the analog stereo outputs is definitely inferior to what you'd get from a better DVD or CD player, but the DVD600's coaxial digital output lets you listen through your surround receiver's digital-to-analog converters rather than those onboard the DVD600 itself. The unit is lightweight and smaller than the average DVD player, but its build quality is lower. With its feature set and remarkably good sound and picture quality, there are no reservations about calling this a great buy and a terrific starter or bedroom DVD.
