Panasonic DMR-EA18K

In preparation from the upcoming analog-to-digital DTV transition , any device manufactured since 2007 and equipped with a standard analog NTSC tuner has been federally mandated to also include a digital ATSC tuner. For manufacturers of DVD recorders,...

Outstanding recording quality, with a best-in-class LP mode; flexible recording speed; chasing playback with DVD-RAM discs; USB port and SDHC card slot; upscales DVD to 1080p; included IR blaster can control a cable or satellite box.

No built-in tuner to receive analog or digital television broadcasts; cannot play back DivX files.

Outstanding recording quality and tons of features, like flexible recording speed and chasing playback, make the Panasonic DMR-EA18K an excellent all-purpose DVD recorder.

"DON"T DO IT..."

Sent back twice in six months. Will not buy another Panasonic DVD Recorder. Very disappointed that it received high ratings.

Good picture quality, nice features others don't offer, nice design.

VERY poor quality, loud, slow loading dvd's, confusing screens

Sent back twice in six months. Will not buy another Panasonic DVD Recorder. Very disappointed that it received high ratings. This unit has a software problem that runs across all models. My father has the EA48 and has the same issues. It ruins every DL...

"Worked for 2 years"

Short life span, poor quality.

Recorded dvd's ok and had an imput for my camcorder

After 2 years it would not open the tray, cost to repair exceeded value of the box, replaced with another brand and bought the warranty. Really just junk from China.

Died one week after warranty

It is unacceptable to have product failure of this type after such short use. I spoke with a {anasonic representative who indicated that out of warranty is exactly the one year. Their offer to give me a refurbished unit for $140 plus shipping plus my...

Burned relatively well for the short number of dvd's burned. The results were generally excellent with high quality

Stopped functioning after about 40 dvd's. Had it for 54 weeks (hence no warranty) but I know how many dvd's because I started with a sleeve of 100. I used Taiyo-Yuden disks that have received good reviews

Excellent playback quality, nice set of features.

Not worth purchasing. As a player, it's so far overpriced as to be laughable. As a recorder, it's single biggest flaw makes it of no value as a DVD recorder.

Good playback quality on standard DVD's to a HDTV. Nice to have the USB connection. Simple controls, not cluttered. Works well with the Viera Plasma TV

Doesn't have the ability to record wide-screen with a DVD -R. How stupid is this. It reads just about anything you put in it, but as a DVD recorder, skip it

Product Specifications

By interpolating video data using proprietary algorithms, SD format data is up-converted to 1080 x 1920p HD format video data. This conversion increases the richness of the original data by almost six fold, producing the highest possible image quality when viewing content on a large-screen HDTV. Connect your Panasonic DVD recorder to your Viera flat-panel HDTV via an HDMI cable, and the TV channel setting information is automatically downloaded to the recorder. Once the auto preset download is complete, the DVD recorder will keep whichever TV channel you're watching as its receiving channel. This means you can record the program you're watching by just pressing the Record button on the Viera remote. With Viera Link, you don't have to worry about setting the recorder to the right channel every time you want to record something. The Panasonic DMR-EA18 DVD recorder is equipped with an SD Memory Card slot and USB terminal, which makes it easy to view photos from your digital camera. Just slip the SD card into the slot or use the cable to connect the camera to the USB terminal, and you're ready to enjoy a spectacular big-screen slideshow with family and friends. You can even listen to music recorded onto a USB device while viewing your photos. All of Panasonic's DVD recorder models are designed in compliance with Panasonic's universal design principles. Frequently used buttons are located at the top of the main unit to make them easier to see when the unit is placed in a rack and you need to look down when operating it. Both the remote control and Graphical User Interface (GUI) were designed for easy use by everyone, based on the results of a Panasonic survey.
