Panasonic DMR-EX768 review

It may be Panasonic's entry-level DVD/HDD recorder, but the smart-looking DMR-EX768 delivers all of the essentials. Unless you're living in an area without usable Freeview coverage, that is; this budget marvel, like the rest of Panasonic's...

AV erformance ; Sensibly-featured HDD ; DVD recording

No analogue tuner ; DivX suort or infra-red control over STB

Panasonic DMR-EX768 DVD/HDD Recorder

Hot on the heels of his glowing Panasonic DMR-EX78 review, Danny takes on the cheaper DMR-EX768.

The absence of features like DivX playback, USB/DV inputs and jukebox functionality, coupled with the smaller hard-disk capacity, makes Panasonic's DMR-768 a much less exciting proposition than the pricier DMR-EX78. Whether or not this matters depends...

A solid recorder that delivers a good picture and great recordings

High spec ; excellent digital TV pictures ; good recording and playback quality ; full-bodied sound

Some noise with DVD playback ; interface slightly tiresome

Freeview Playback allows you to pause 'live' TV, although this is spoilt by a pointless on-screen graphic. Furthermore, you can't permanently 'save' buffered recordings. You do however get series recording, and compensation for delayed starts...

Excellent AV performance, features sensible but basic

No analogue tuner, set-top box control DivX playback

DMR-EX768EBK Freeview+ 160GB Hard Drive DVD Recorder 1080P Up-Conversion - Black

An excellent DVD recorder which my wife and I can both use even tho we are both in our mid 70s. The only downside is the very slow start up time ( but maybe this is normal )

For TV lovers, not film makers.

Had this about a week and I am thinking about sending it back. I work in Television and Film so I may have slightly different needs and expectations than most. But having a DVD recorder with so few inputs is very disappointing! Just an analogue audio...

Great DVD Recorder until it breaks!

This is a great recorder, until it breaks. Our has performed faultlessly for 18 months but now has the classic (google the internet for panasonic dvd faults) NoRead error. Yesterday it stopped ready ANY type or brand of DVD disc at all. I am...

I must just be unlucky but I cannot believe that I am the only person this has happened to. THis is my SIXTH order of the panny hdd/dvd recorder with freeview. I ordered one end of 2006, worked great (still going now!) so ordered an upgraded version...

Had this for about a month now and had a problem with the dvd drive not recognising any disc (cd or dvd) which was insereted into the drive. Phoned panasonic customer care and they were suprisingly helpful giving me the names and numbers of two repair...

Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR-768EB

Purchased this model as a back up recorder for my Sony. Comparing the two there is not a great deal of difference in the end result. However I seemed to get a grasp of the operation of the Sony more readily so I would say that the Sony is, for me, more...
