Panasonic CV-50

Panasonic CV-50

I bought this DVD player after my RCA quit reading disks after a few months. I liked DVD's so much I wanted to upgrade to a 5-disc carousel. I picked this one that was a display model at a discounted price of about $450 can. I brought it home and...

The Gift that never gives

The Gift that never gives

Recieved this unit as a present a few years ago, and have had nothing but problems with it. It's motor has died on my twice in that time, the lens once, and it will also not play CD-R or DVD-R media that even my X-box and PlayStation2 will play. If...

Panasonic no longer makes quality items

Four months after I bought this player it also did the skipping, pixelated, black screen process due to overheating and condensation on the lens. I was charged the 85 dollars from Panasonic to have it fixed. Needless to say, less than six months...

I love this player!

I love this player!

My husband and I purchased this player a couple of years ago, and it has given us flawless performances ever since then. The one drawback is that it won't play CD's that one would make from a computer. Our daughter made us a CD and it will only play...

Panasonic makes me sick to thy stomach

Panasonic makes me sick to thy stomach

All i have to say is that mine worked for about a year and all of a sudden quit reading my discs. I took it in and paid $20 just to be told it would cost $185 more to replace the laser lens that went "sour." I will never buy from panasonic again. I...

Does not play CD-R's

Does not play CD-R's

This player will not play home-burned CD's (CD-R and CD-RW). It notes this limitation in the instructions, so I suppose one can't really attack Panasonic for it, but that seems like an important feature these days since you are likely to burn or be...

my luck ran out, maybe..

My player died on me within 14 months of purchase. I have taken great care of the product, used only good, scratch free media and also used the lens cleaner on it. In the end, after about 14 months of service, it died on me (refuses to read any...

good picture, good sound

struggles to read many VCD's, died in 14 months

Panasonic Lemon

Panasonic Lemon

Initially, this player seemed to have all the right stuff. It worked for a total of five months and two days. Now, it won't play anything. I called Panasonic for customer support and was told that the lens was probably dirty and all that was needed...

Good Quality Great Price

This is a great 2 in 1 player.

Easy to use, 5 disk audio changer

Small remote ; Won't play CDR's

Consumer review by:

DVD-CV50 great changer, OK player, lacks some of newer features now available

The DVD-CV50 was purchased largely based on prior experience with Panasonic products (very reliable) and the fact that it was a "changer".

5 disk carousel, multiple CD play without changing, component hookup for better processing

no CD-R, mp3, progressive scan support, figuring out how to get CDs to eject

Product Specifications

A perfect addition to your home entertainment system, the DVD-CV50 plays up to five DVD-Video discs, for your pure enjoyment in virtually any digital format. The front-loading five-disc rotary carousel design lets you change any of the four non-playing discs without disturbing the movie you're watching, or the music you're listening to. It is equipped with a built-in Dolby Digital decoder, eliminating the need for an external decoder. Still Picture Display (I/P/B) freezes an image to allow for precise picture quality adjustments. Advanced V.S.S. allows for a remarkable surround sound effect even while only using the front two speakers. And thanks to component video out, the DVD-CV50 produces images with higher resolution and more accurate colors than conventional DVD-Video players.
