Exclusivity for an amazingly affordable price!

Well, I have been using this DVD-A player for years now. Originally, I had considered purchasing the higher priced Denon 1600 Progressive Scan Player but for the price, I just couldn't justify spending hundreds more for a similar player using the very ...

Faroudja chip exclusivity! Excellent picture performance and sound quality!

MP3 playback may cause the machine to hang. Layer change is average.

No Regrets

Last September, my DVD player decided to stop working, so I had no choice but to get a new one. After some research, I decided that I'd get the RP-82. That has to be the single best decision I've made in my life.

Small, nice picture, nice sound, affordable ; I like playing with the zoom feature

Does not escape the dreaded layer change/pause

Best progressive scan player for the money

Last spring (2002), I was interested in getting a new progressive scan DVD player to use with my HDTV capable projection TV. Based on detailed reviews on several internet sites, Panasonic's RP56 seemed to have one of the best progressive scan...

Excellent video quality, small and elegant design, rich set of features

Cheap looking remote, slow layer change during DVD playback

One of the best affordable DVD players around!

I was much attracted by its appearance when I first saw it, so did my girlfriend. My cabinet is also near out of space, if I buy this player, it can be stacked on the top of my panasonic VCR.

look, slim, progressive scan, video quality, Faroudja DCDi, digital audio quality, built quality, remaster(unsampling) option

no SACD_support, fingerprints on mirror_face, analog_audio quality, practical_but_ugly remote, mp3_playback quality, noisy when reading_chapters

Overall good player

I've only had this player a few days now, and it really is a good player. It plays my SVCD home videos (although the manual claims that SVCD is not supported). The on screen display even recognizes the discs at SVCD and plays them fine. I have not...

DVD-RAM playback, VCD, SVCD work too

No Dolby Digital/DTS support for DVD Audio discs

Great progressive scan picture at bargain price

This DVD player puts out a terrific progressive scan picture. Mine projects on a 100" screen, and the picture is very crisp, sharp, and the colors are very vivid. Much better than the Sony DVD player it replaces. The silver exterior is ugly, but at...

Product Specifications

Have a seat. You're about to enter the digital dimension. Inside the DVD-RP82, you'll find a digital Cinema Mode that combines brightness control with picture noise canceling. The result is an image that appears in just seconds. And from the comfort of your chair, you can adjust the picture on your screen. The Re-master function digitally converts standard 44.1-kHz/16-bit CD signals to 88.2-kHz/24-bit so sound quality approaches that of DVD-Audio. And built-in DTS and Dolby Digital provide channel surround sound that will blow back your hair. It's like going to the movies or a big concert without ever leaving your home. That's the digital dimension.
