Excellent value, inexpensive DVD player

Excellent value, good quality DVD player. Needed a cheap'n'cheerful DVD player. Saw reviews that raved about this player. Reviews totally correct, a great player superior to many more expensive models.

SLOW, SLOW, SLOW, SLOW BUT GOOD PICTURE

It's slow. Slow to start up, slow to skip a chapter, slow to find the menu, slow to do most things. The tray comes out fast but then you wait 3 minutes. Couple of times it's froze up on me and a few times the picture and sound have went out of synch so...

Easy to use quality DVD player

Easy to use DVD player, easy set up. Remote control very straight forward. Plays Divx DVD's. Phillips products are simple to use and they just work. Very neat and compact size.

Takes too long to play a DVD

Decent player once a DVD gets going, but to get going it takes a frustratingly long time. Perhaps I'm just a bit too impatient. My previous DVD player, also from Philips which I bought more than 8 years ago was much more responsive.

Philips DVP3800/05

Very easy to set up with a good picture resolution

Disc tray very flimsy. Door jammed closed and then jammed open. Appears to be a common fault as Phillips posted instructions on how to resolve the problem on their website. Not acceptable as happened every time it was used
