Philips DVP5960 DVD Player Review and Prices

We are hard-pressed to think of a budget DVD player that offers more for less than the Philips DVP5960. This single-disc unit is neatly designed, with a sleek finish and slender construction, standing just 1-1/2 inches high. It may not have the...

HDMI up-conversion of DVD, USB port, DivX-compatible, slim and stylish design

No DTS support, no S-video output, poorly designed remote control, buggy JPEG browser functions

Looks great, works great, I'm looking at getting the 5990 this time. Great player for the money.

Plays Divx files very well

file names are 8 characters, so you can't always tell what file to choose. When playing via usb and there is a lot of action or water scene it tends to skip

Nice player for the price

I've tried formatting my thumb drive several ways and I get an 'Unsupported Format" error everytime. The manual only states that it needs to be a supported format but no where does it tell you what that format is!

Inexpensive good quality DVD player

USB port doesn't recognize any of my disks

I was at Best Buy and just by chance this player caught my eye because of the thin size. It also up converts all dvds to near HD quality I can definetly tell a defference. Just make sure to have a HD tv and buy a nice hdmi cable. I wont say the price...

Upconversion all the way to 1080p is qutie nice for the price.Picture is at or near HD with HDMI hook-up. Very small and easy to access

NO DTS! I always play my movies in DTS when available but oh well Dolby is good enough for now.Kind of a crappy remote
