Pioneer BDP-LX 52

Superb HD-film picture., Above-average DVD playback., Loads of picture controls., Versatile HD-audio output., Effective jitter reduction in combination with Pioneer receivers.

Audible fan noise., Loading times are way too long.

'There\x92s no question about it: Pioneer devices almost unfailingly produce top-quality pictures. On top of that, the BDP-LX 52 also sounds fantastic: Pioneer\x92s PQLS technology improves differentiation in HD-audio formats \x97 although only if you...

Pioneer BDP-LX52 Blu-ray player

The BDP-LX52 doesn't play media files from USB but it will play just about everything else

Looks; Picture quality; Built-in memory

Won't play media via USB; Slow disc loading

So, grumbles aside about the lack of Wi-Fi and slow loading times; we think the LX52 is an exceptionally talented Blu-ray deck

Pioneer BDP-LX52 review

The Pioneer BDP-LX52 is pricy and suffers from some flaws, like its lack of multi-channel analogue outputs, and slow disc-loading times. But its video and audio quality are so good that these negative issues are easily outweighed

Exceptional picture and sound quality ; Full BD-Live support

No multi-channel analogue outputs ; Slow load times

Conclusion The Pioneer BDP-LX52 is far from perfect. It lacks multi-channel analogue outputs, can't play back media via its USB port and can be slow to load discs. But it still impressed us greatly, due to its excellent video-playback quality. Simply...

Pioneer BDP-LX52 Blu-ray player

Does Pioneer know how to make a bad Blu-ray player? Danny doesn't think so.

The BDP-LX52's relatively high price tag will no doubt limit its appeal to dedicated home cinema fans, but if you have the cash and care about AV performance then we guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Pioneer BDP-LX52 Blu-ray Player

Pioneer's experience with optical disc in home entertainment applications goes back many years. The company carved out a very respectable niche for itself in the 1980s and 90s by standing firmly behind the LaserDisc format, rather than following the...
