In my view - an all round winner

 

1. Ease of operation/setting up. Looks ; 2. SP recordings (2nd highest mode) give superb results - 2hrs on a DVD-R/RW, but I also like the 'optimised' (manual) mode - just let the machine fit the copy transfer from HDD to DVD-R at the best available...

I have minor niggles only ; Having to come out of 'Disc Navigator' to use 'Home Menu' - and vice-versa ; No RGB output - while this doesn't bother me just now I do accept it may have ramifications at a later date and if I decide ever to get that 42"...

Up until I received the Pioneer I was still using my first generation Panasonic Hi-Fi VHS recorder (still working after 18 years, but starting to show signs of age). I still keep the Panasonic looped into the 5100H for copying to and from tape, backing...

There's no going back to VCR

 

No more scanning back and forth through Video tapes ; Fast forward/Rewind at up to 100x speed, with no interference lines ; Edit out the adverts before transferring to DVD ; Simple user interface ; Chase Play ; HDD for "watch once" programs

You can only set up daily/weekly recordings using Video

Bought this about a month ago, and have been very impressed. The picture quality is superb, and the ease of use compared to a VCR is fantastic. No more searching through piles of tapes, or scanning back and forth through a tape to find the programme...
