Performance

Sony DVP-CX985V

Highest disc capacity on the market; quiet operation; plenty of connectivity; numerous sorting options; plays multichannel SACDs.

Extremely bulky; somewhat unwieldy navigation; no Internet lookup; so-so video performance.

For DVD junkies seeking to reduce clutter, this relatively inexpensive changer makes navigating hundreds of discs a bit easier.

Blu-ray Anyone? My wish list.

I agree with all the comments relative to the explorer and general organization/searching. How it could have passed sign off from upper management is a wonder to me. I have to keep a hardcopy list printed next to it so I don't have to spend 2 hours ...

I bet Sony wants to sweep this under the rug

I am a movie geek. I have hundreds upon hundreds of movies. Getting this seemed like the best idea ever. Boy, was I wrong. Inserting 400 discs was easy. They fit nicely, although the unit is a bit deap (22 inches). A small dent in the loading bay ...

Audio and Video quality are superb, attractive cosmetics

Horrible interface, aggrevating user control which makes you want to go postal, autodetect is useless

Gets annoying after a while

We've had this unit for a little over a year. The user interface to add all of the discs was tedious. I was surprised (since I didn't read the reviews here) how few of my CDs and DVDs it would recognize. My biggest complaint is how slow this unit is. ...

Holds all of my CDs and DVDs. Price.

Slow, poor user interface. Sick of listening to it move discs.

mixed good and bad - a lot of bad

The CX985 is a great way to have quick access to 400 disks but with some serious drawbacks, most notably in ease of use and quality of playback. The standalone Sony does not interface with a PC or network for easy update of the disk info and has an ...

Slowwwww Access

O.k. This unit is reasonably priced. And can clear some serious shelf space, getting rid of all of your cases... but the functionality and speed of queing up movies is so poor, that I'm sorry I went this route. I purchased a Pioneer 300 CD player ...

Price, Disc capacity, varied formats.

The Sony DVD Player

Has a great new design, it has a high quality visual screen.

Might be a little bulky for some people, might be a little bit big.
