Sweet styling and ergonomics; picture adjustments; excellent 4:3 performance; good progressive upconversion.

No aspect-ratio control; no MP3 playback; occasional color streaks; darker in interlaced mode; somewhat noisy picture.

Its high-end appearance and modest price make Sony's DVP-NS700P an attractive solution for budget progressive-scan shoppers. But a few video gaffes and missing features keep it from outpacing the competition.

My New 36XBR450 & DVP NS700p

 

I got both the Sony TV and Sony Prog Scan NS700P DVD player for $2129, so that made the TV a great bargin.

The picture quality is scary; it jumps out at you

Tweaking of all pre-set settings is required to get the best picture for your particular signal. It's also heavy, but once the cables are hooked and you don't plan to move it, who cares. I don't like having to go into service mode, but at least it can...

Very significant improvement in HD Video. Fewer Cables, more lines per frame.

Not enough connections- VHS has to share Camcorder input. Watch out for overpriced cables.

Bought mine at Best Buy for $159.99. The silver encasement is a refreshing change from the old and boring black players. Performance is excellent. Both audio and video quality are above average. Progressive mode is sharp, every great once in a while I...

Crystal clear picture, progressive scan is sharp.

Keeping pace with the ever-evolving technology around us is a dizzying experience at best. Home theater does not stay behind and offers us new and exciting products for us to talk about. Such is the Sony DVP-NS700P Progressive Scan DVD player.
