very good dvd player

Flawless Picture, Flawless Sound, Good Menus, Easy to Use

Why not let it have the same menus as the 500s?

Clear picture delivery and affordable

For your A/V-philes, save your money for a mid- to high-level player.

Sony DVP-S330 DVD Player

Let's be honest. The main reason to buy a DVD player is to get a picture as sharp as an eagle's claw compared to a videotape image. Once you've gone in for DVD images it's like going from cassette tapes to CD's... you never want to go back again.

Super Image on the screen

That darn missing MUTE button on the remote

Sony DVP-S330 DVD Player

My first DVD player was an RCA 5220P (see my review of it if you are interested). The RCA is a competent player that will not disappoint. The Sony, for the most part, is better.

Excellent picture and sound

Unfortunately, the sound sometimes gets out of synch with the picture

Sony DVP-S330..a great product

I've worked for Circuit City Stores Inc. for about 6 years now selling video equipment. Out of all the products that we sell Sony usually shines. Its not always the best but generally highly reliable, priced modestly, and logically built. The Sony... baloney!

Somwhat Pricey

Is DVD really better

When my husband first told me that he wanted a DVD player I was skeptical about paying that kind of money to watch a movie. It seemed to me that the good old VCR was working just fine and why should we buy a DVD player when all of our movies were...

Great Quality But Missing Some Info.

To be quite honest, this Sony DVD was a gift from my wife, so unfortunately, I was not there at the Good Guys when she bought it, so I couldn't ask the appropriate questions to make sure this was the product for us.

Easy hook up, great sound quality (as long as you have a stereo hooked up to it)

Can't adjust the picture, not enough options to do so

Great Quality, Basic Features.

This is the first DVD player I have purchased, and I can say that I am very pleased. I have a setup at home that I run everything through a receiver and this was easy to setup and get running right out of the box. If you have never used a DVD player,...

Great quality, easy setup, works great with existing home entertainment setup

Medium Price, Basic Model w/o a lot of extra features

I have been looking around recently for a new gadget to tinker around with at my house when I get bored. I have researched quite a bit on all the DVD players out on the market right now. With all the choices out there I am pretty sure with my testing...

High Quality, grat picture, Nice sound

Pay alittle more for a brand name

Product Specifications

An entry-level DVD player in Sony's line-up, the DVP-S330 does have some niceties unique to Sony: namely SmoothScan and SmoothSlow searches. These features make forward and reverse scanning less jerky and more natural-looking. The DVP-S330 also automatically selects the soundtrack with the highest number of channels, which means that most of those annoying DVDs designed to default to the two-channel soundtrack will default to the 5.1-channel soundtrack with this player. Sony includes both coaxial and optical digital audio outputs, for compatibility with any Dolby Digital/DTS receiver. There's also an S-video output and a composite video output. This player features CD Text display, so you can see artist/track info from CDs encoded with such data. There's also a bit rate indicator and a bit rate history display, so video geeks can monitor the data content of their DVDs. The preprogrammed universal remote controls many brands of TVs, as well as the volume level of 8 brands of A/V receivers.
