Sony DVP-S560; 5 Years of Frustration

Sony's DVP-S560D; 5 years of frustration. I purchased the Sony DVP-S560 from Best Buy in 2000 for $299.00. Reviews (non-Epinion reviews I should have known better) had this model pegged as one of the best DVD players available at the time. Hey, ...

Taught me a valuable lesson on the worthlessness of Best Buy extended warranties.

Disk Errors, overheats, skips, recognizes limited formats, serviced professionally 5 times in 4 years.

Do NOT buy this! C13 errors!

I could not believe my first DVD player would be such a dud. For anyone considering buying a Sony DVD player, STOP. I used to work in a repair shop, and Sony was one of the top CD players to need new laser assemblies. They were constantly going bad, in...

The Bells and Whistles

I've had this DVD player for a long while now. I must say it's been humming right along with no problems, and still gives me great DVD playback every time. One huge plus to this player is the analog 5.1 channel sound outputs. This is one reason I ...

5.1 channel output, great picture, virtual surround sound

Can be difficult to use, too many settings, no CD-R or DVD-audio playback

Possible Fix for the Skipping, Stopping, Restarting, & C1300 error.

Update: Apparently this was only a temporary fix. I tried watching a DVD last night and it started acting up again. I figured the only difference from earlier in the day was that I had been running it with out the cover on. So I pulled the cover off...

Died a month after warranty expired.

I bought this Sony DVD player because I'd heard many good things about Sony products, and the 5.1 compatible stereo system I had recently purchased was all Sony components.

It was a Sony!!

STAY AWAY!

If you do a little research online, you will find that this product line suffers from serious problems. My player, along with many others, skips horribly. It is often at the end of movies that it will do this which is HIGHLY ANNOYING. I can't tell...

It would be a nice unit if it worked.

Serious design flaws.

Same problem as the rest

I just wanted to pipe in and say that I have had the exact same problems that I have seen in about 10% of the reviews on this site -- Put a DVD in and the player does not recognize it. Put the same disc in a cheap DVD player (my son's) and it works...
