Excellent, versatile and very dependable analog DVD-recorder

The Sony RDR-GX300 is an excellent choice as a DVD-recorder... at least a few years ago when digital broadcasting was a thing of the future.

Dependable, supports nearly all disc types, timeshift capable, 6 different quality settings, names recorded titles automatically

Quite bulky size and remote control, no DV-link

I liked it enough to buy a 2nd one, so I have 2 of these.

I'll start this review by saying I find Sony products are easy to use and very durable under heavy use. Although this recorder may take a little time to learn how to use, once you learn it, you can do so much with it. Like editing your favorite shows...

excellent picture quality, great sound, good user interface- easy to understand

somewhat picky about certain dvd discs

Good quality recorder but cannot output to VHF port.

This is a reliable unit for burning DVDs. I've burned over 100 DVDs and had no failures. The quality is very good in SP mode there is no discernable difference from the original TV signal. LP mode is very acceptable. The only real problem is the unit...

Good quality recording, reliable DVD burning

Cannot output to VHF port, cumberson to use label menu

Easy to use with good video quality

Quality of video is great when using s-video connections. Set up menus and timer recording is easy to use. Quality of built is excellent looks like it will last for a long time unlike built of other top name brand recorder. Records on +R/RW or -R/RW.

Video recording quality & records on any disc

Loading time too long, no RAM

I'd rate it zero if I could

Paid $400. Had it for 1 year. Used lightly for time-shifting in VR mode. From the beginning it would format only Sony DVDs. Recorded maybe 30 shows, saving some. After almost exactly one year, I took out a full disk and loaded a new one, only my 11-th...

Would be good if it worked

Mine is a doorstop

GX300 is last of the high end Sony DVD Recorders, and a step up from the GX-7!

This is the second Super high quality Built-like-a-brick house Sony DVD recorder in my home. The first is the older high-end RDR GX-7 DVD recorder, which has no option for a cable box blaster, but has ever feature of the RDR-GX300. The cable box...

Easy to program and record with excellent playback

Wish it had up-converting

Good DVD recorder, not perfect.

Pretty good DVD recorder. I've owned/used it for about 6 months now, and am pretty happy with it. I've been using DVD-R media with now problems. However, I recently tried to start using DVD-RW (to edit out commericals, etc) and found some small-print...

Ease of use, flexibility in type of DVDs to use
