Sony RDR-HXD970 review

Sony has thus far proven to be master of the DVD recording universe. And its latest hard-drive offering is its best yet

If you want the best, this is it. A peerless fusion of style and performance with an idiot-proof menu system

Sony RDR-HXD970

A lot of freeview channels found. Hard disk has been reliable and I have copied onto DVD which is good.

I found the set-up really hard to understand. I wanted to just organise the freeview and the TV (without having a Sky box) and this proved to be quite timeconsuming and frustrating. I telephoned the Sony shop in Southampton and they helped me...

Sony RDR-HXD970

Easy to use guide and recording features, HDMI output with upscaling for DVD's, ability to copy DVD's that you have recoded yourself easily, big hard drive.

Unable to link record from Sony TV's using the TV guide, unable to record from digital and analog tuners at the same time.

Sony RDR-HXD970

The simplicity of it use and its general convenience ie not having to get recordable DVD's ready at the time you want to record. Record what ever you want, when you want at the press of a button and transpose onto a DVD if or when you want at a later...

None experienced so far. Wife now records soap operas!

Sony RDR-HXD970

The Sony is very good at what it does and is very straightforward to use, the picture and sound quality is good. The set is is quick and straightforward.

The machine is very loud when it is switched on and even when in standby the motor unit comes on randomly for an extended period of time and is disturbing if you want to sit quitely and read.
