this thing rocks

Read the specs before you give something a bad rating. This does everything it says it does. Movies look great on my 56 inch JVC.

Plays everything i expected it too and looks good. Reads my 1TB external drive no problem. (FAT32)

Not free

Followup review, rip process

I've come to accept this for the task I need. It is installed at a vacation home and I have a 16GB USB thumb drive that goes with me back and forth with the family's new/favorite 12 or so movies. Here's the process I use to rip the DVDs: DVDfab6 to...

Small, good looking, HDMI, nice remote, price

limited media formats

Rate the product for what it is...not what it should be

I cant stand people that rate a product based on what they think it is. Not what it actually is. Read the specs people! It says FAT32 in the specs, no h264 in the specs! Dont trash the product because you were too cheap or lazy to either buy a better...

A friend of mine has one and its great. Small, sleek. Plays Divx great. His movies look awesome. Get a good Flash Drive and format to FAT32. You wont be disappointed

None. It does what it is meant to do and does it well

OK at the right price

I wouldn't buy it again for the price I paid (30 bucks), but I would have only netted about 15 if I returned it. It is worth that.

Small, straight forward UI -- not flashy, but gets the job done, remote controls TV too (Sony CRT type). In fact, the remote is probably the best part of the package. It is much better quality and feel than other devices provide in this price range

limited file formats. My routine of DVDfab6 and Handbrake doesn't seem to work except at really low resolution. I'm still looking for an easy rip process to work with this. Motion was jerky, don't know if that was the unit, my file, or my USB stick

Great for the price! You kidding me?

I got this unit and picked up a $10 power inverter from Frie'z (use your imagination) and have a < $50 system that now officially pwnz0rz the DVD system in my car.

Worked great for an in-car video source when the DVD hardware was on the fritz ; PRICE! $35-ish shipped for a PMP with HDMI out??? Really ; Compact size ; Handsome little bugger, easy on the eyes ; HDMI Output ; Reads DivX files fine ; No lag...

Need to format media to FAT32. Wah wah waaaaaah ; Some file format limitations, but not a ton

This product is great for MP3's. Not bad for pictures, although too slow for me. The videos that DO play are fine. Plays very well. I like it for this. Sony just needs to add new firmware or a different chip to make this guy play all files.

Small, good looking product, low price, menu isn't bad like others say, great quality playback for the files that it WILL play

This product needs an update but none found on Sony website. It simply does NOT play many video file formats. That is a huge problem. I really regret not not buying the $100+ off brand product that can use the hard drive. Also, I did not like the...

What a waste of money

I can't belived, big name like Sony making some stupid device like this. Sony Shame on you. If you in the market for a portable, multimedia player Please do not buy this one, just a waste of money

Slow ; UI is ugly ; Support only Flash card not external hard drive, not card reader

Consumer review by:

Other reviewers wrong?

Both other reviewers said this will only accept flash drives, but mine is working fine with an external 120 Gb bus-powered portable USB hard drive. Playback is a little glitchy, but I'm not sure if that's related to the read speed of the HD or the...

Small, Lots of output choices

Clumsy UI

No USB HD Support

I will probably purchase a Seagate Media Player when it comes down in price.

Small and very easy to use

I am extremely disappointed that it does not support USB hard drives. This was not apparent when I purchased this. This means that I have to compress the heck out of movies to fit more than a couple on a 8GB thumb drive

Compact and easy to use

Newegg had this for $3 cheaper a week ago, but at the price I am thinking of getting another one.

HDMI upconvert to 1080p , small foot print, simpe to use . coupled to a 16-32GB FLASH DRIVE makes movies portable and quick to view just about on anyone's LCD TV. approx 5" square and 1" thick, you can put it in your purse or jacket and bam , you've...

Volume control does not work through HDMI on non Sony TV, no biggie though. Will not accept USB hard drive, which would make this unbeatable and account for one more star
