Decent, but disappointing

Excellent overall

Well, the thing i like abuot this player is that you always can shut it down and start at the same point and if you pause it, it will shut off automatically. My Pioneer would not do this. I'm sure many DVD players offer this but I do not own tons of...

Fantastic DVD Player, Fantastic Price!

I recently decided to buy my first DVD player. Yes, I am behind the times! Since I knew very little about DVD players, I did quite a bit of research before buying one. I got recommendations from friends and family, and read articles in various...

2710 Bang's for the Buck

All things otherwise being equal, all this is missing is the MP3 decoder! Look to the 2710 for that feature. These are fantastic units - quiet operating, lots of configuration options, and basically every type of audio/video output you can find on the...

Great DVD for under $170

The Toshiba SD2700 was more DVD player than I expected for the low price. I usually deal only in Sony video products and wanted a Sony but received the SD2700 as a gift. I have a Sony 61S70 big screen and a Sony HTD-DW830 home theater system. The...

Want to get going with DVD, try this!

I have just bought this player about 2 weeks ago and explored all it's features, but let me explain first why I bought this:

Has all the features you will see for $200.

Remote layout is mediocre, unintuitive. Chassis has no menu access buttons.

Great features for the price!

After I bought my new Toshiba 32 inch television, I went out to look for a DVD player so I could finally move out of the home entertainment dark ages. Since my tv has ColorStream inputs as well as S-Video, I decided to look into whether it was going...

Great picture, inexpensive, reads CD-Rs!

Skimpy controls on unit. Remote is just okay.

Product Specifications

Toshiba includes performance-enhancement and convenience features throughout its entire DVD line, and the SD2700 exemplifies the company's commitment to high-performance and high-value. A special Picture Preference mode (designated as EPM on the remote control) offers viewers a choice of two black level settings and three pre-set picture modes. The NORMAL setting provides the NTSC standard black cutoff level of 7.5ire. The Enhanced Black Level is pre-set for zero black level cutoff, providing a wider dynamic range of Brightness (black level). The three pre-set picture modes include: MOVIE ONE, for enhanced contrast and brighter black levels; MOVIE TWO for softer, more lustrous color rendition, with a glossy tone; and ANIMATION, which enhances the image by brightening colors and providing for rich, solid black reproduction. For optimum audio performance, the SD2700 features coaxial and optical digital audio outputs, permitting external decoding of Dolby Digital and DTS-encoded soundtracks. In addition, HDCD precision filtering and decoding provides true 20-bit audio resolution from the growing number of HDCD-enhanced CDs and also enhances the playback sound of conventional CDs.
